Ill be honest Im a bit of a history buff.. But i have to ask What time period is considerd "Medieval" Post Byzantine? Post Roman?

Cus if i had a real choice in what i would study i would Probably choose medieval history. I cant get enough of Byzantine history,

General Discussion / Pilots?
« on: May 28, 2013, 12:04:24 am »
Is it just me or are pilots just kinda rare. I mean it generaly takes a special person to want to drive a ship and command others but it seems its a slight rareity in the game. Not enough to keep the games from starting too much but it seems like once you decide to make a real effort to being  pilot it seems like no one wants to do them... most of the day i just wanted to shoot stuff or beat stuff with wrenches and hammers but every time i enter a match a pilot leaves and no one joins.  after 5 minutes of waiting i give up and pilot anyway. just to keep the room from emptying out.
Is it just bad luck or are pilots just unpopular?

I broke one of the fundamental laws of piloting yesterday, to great effect.

My team was winning 4-0 in 2v2 Dunes. I was flying my wonderfully amazing ramming Pyramidion. I was working on focusing a Junker down, but he was surviving and I was getting bored. Then the enemy Spire started to get close. So I said to myself "Screw it, let's get the Spire". I moonshined towards him and got the instakill with a ram.

Ramming with Pyras is fun in general. It's especially fun when they don't see you coming. Like when you spawn right behind them at the start, and get a kill about 20 seconds into the match.
try putting two harpoons at the front.  makes it near uncontrolable. but hearing how pissed off the enemy was after that match god damn hillarious

Gameplay / Re: Buying Time: Using a spanner for repairs

Seems like you are a fine engineer. I know i don't have the experience alot of people do i do try to better myself by reading and learning. And to be honest if you were on the hull and  balloon is going down and if you are under real heavy fire its a safe bet your engines are going down too... So... why didn't the captain break away from his steering wheel and repair the balloon? or at least try?  chances are your not moving very far without your balloon. and even worse if your engines are down too....on Junkers,  goldfish and galleon when i captain i usually take it upon myself to tap the balloon if things are going to hell and my engies have their hands full.

It sounds like you did just fine. and you will always find captains who have their heads so far up their butts that it seems like they are fighting a completely  different battle. Dont get too  upset ;)

I love the spoiled prince or princess background. It would explain why the ship looks so fancy and why they would have such an over-engineered design when other ships function better and more easily. Now if I could have anything I would love for the death animation to occasionally be the ship flipping over.
I agree But maybe not all the time... maybe once every 500 deathsor something to that effect. make it a rare treat! yay easter eggs!!

To just tell someone what to do. especialy another captain is kinda rude. Commands durring battle are one thing but a persons set up is another...

But what i dont understand is why people dont take it upon them selves to either ask questoins about what works or simply look it up. I looked at the wiki and learned alot about what works and what doesnt. Doesnt mean i wont try some "oddball" set ups but background info is very important.. and if you couldnt give a straight argument why you are doing the things you are then in some cases it may be better to take the advise givin to you...

The Lounge / Your first User name?
« on: May 22, 2013, 07:30:32 pm »
For many Of us We  were children when we made our first user name on websites and games. And a lot of them Are really funny.
For laughs Lets share some of our childhood user names and describe why as a child you chose that name.  if you Like You can post the site/game you used it on.

Username: Digidood92
Site: Neopets

I was 8 when I first was introduced to this site and thought it was awesome. I was a huge fan of digimon at the time and thought the "92" Sounded cool because it kinda rhymed. And yes before anyone asks It was a misspelling of "Dude" And no it was not Intentional.
I wasn't a very intelligent kid

The Lounge / Re: What did you name your ship and why?
« on: May 22, 2013, 07:20:09 pm »
IVe gone nerdy with mine and named them after pokemon. I picked pokemon of the typing i think fits them best and then picked a pokemon out of that typing that seemed to in some way fill the roll of that ship...

Junker: Goes between two names.  Kingler  becuase its my favorite pokemon... and my favorite ship.. Or Lairon  It seems to be a defensive ship and Offenively does alright. Just like steel types.

Goldfish: Goldeen. For obvious reasons I guess... I als gave it the hellhound. popping balloons and being up peoples asses.. Kinda gives me the impressoin of a Horn...

Pyramidion: Rhyhorn. Rock types  are very offenive but have good defence and health and the pyramidions hull is fairly high So it seemed fitting

Squid: Beedrill. Its delicate. easy to kill and More of a nusance than a real threat

Spire: Glalie Ice types are one of the easist things to kill in pokemon. But also are the type that do some of the most damage. Seems fitting for spire...

Galleon: Snorlax I picked more for the pokemon than the typing. Snorlax Has HUGE amount of hitpoint and Can do some serious damage in a hurry. But getting to act first is a problem. Just like the Galleon

How about The cheff Class we can add a kicthen to every ship and every 10 minutes chef  can ring his chefs bell and cause a cease fire among all ships then they go and eat and depending on how good the chefs cooking is  all the players will get varying buffs and debuffs. and maybe in between bell rings chefs can bring appitisers out to the crew to give them varius buffs. The captain will have to be responsible for choosing the kitchens load out of ingreadiants and food. and the chef will need to bring tools like a frying pan or a ladle to make the best use of these ingreadints. But can only bring 3 tools just like any other class.

Basically what im saying is screw air ships and  make an MMO about Cooking

Scary thing is: somebody's suggested that before. Seriously.
Thats..... huh....

Think it should be an encouragement. Guns really has no competition in the genre and has likely done better than others could have. No I don't count Airbucs as competition. But they do get a lot of competition from regular mainstream games like CoD and BF. Convincing non team players to play a game where you are either godlike or sucky based on others abilities is not easy. Muse has no cute girly characters either like that Skullgirls game to really rake in millions. Getting 200k...yeah thats an encouragement. I kinda guessed the moment they announced the kickstarter it would get around 150-200k. I didn't see the 100k as a problem for this community.

Lot of us want the 500k goals but its going to take more players to spur that. Shame this couldn't have gotten some time on places like Kotaku. Had a few good publications on some other sites but they came about a month in on the KS. Needed more and earlier.

Airbucs says the same stuff about us you know.
I havent played airbucs or seen anything from their community but despite what they say these two games ARE in compitioin  with eachother Being that thay are  both games of the same setting, theme, and even simular populatoin there is going to be some push and pull and shifting of players from one to the other.  Some will prefer the play style of one over the other
