Feedback and Suggestions / PvP Locked Content
« on: April 27, 2017, 12:08:46 pm »
"Just like PvE players, these new tools will have to be unlocked. To make sure everyone has the same opportunity, once 4,700 Alliance matches are played, this ship and weapon will become available.
Once unlocked everyone, Guns of Icarus Online and Alliance owners will be able to use Shrike and Tempest in PvP."     ----   Quote from Newsletter.

4700 matches as a community or per individual?  Im confused.

At present I'm still processing that PvP content is being locked behind PvE content.  This has my mind blown.  Im not sure I got the facts straight but all this time waiting for new ships or content for PvP and you lock it behind PvE?

Clarification would be appreciated.

The Docks / --- Steel Meridian --- Update
« on: September 25, 2016, 02:35:50 pm »
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."

Steel Meridian is based off the idea that we can be a tight knit online family even as we play games regardless of distance, color, race, religion, or sexual orientation. There is a level of comraderie that is achieved by a group that sticks together. We have mostly played Guns of Icarus Online together and if anyone knows that game it requires teamwork of the highest level to be a success and we try to bring that teamwork to all of our other games and inner clan activities. One thing we do not care about is your skill level. Anyone can learn to play a game. We care about your attitude, your willingness to get to know the group, and your ability to work with others and respect opponents and allies alike. We do not troll in game at all for any reason. Our age range is anywhere from 14-37 currently and will never be a requirement. Only how you handle yourself in a group situation matters. Everyone is friendly and willing to meet new people so give us a shot even if you are just curious.
This is not a monarchy. We have meetings once a month for fun and for organization where everyone brings up concerns or issues to talk about and then to vote. The whole group votes on new members and all clan issues. Any hierarchy in the clan is there for only major issues.

Can someone explain who the man in white coat and beard is?  Very creepy.  Our captain took the first picture.  The 2nd shows all the members remaining outfits.  Ghost squid mascot.

The Docks / -§m- Steel Meridian / Team Highwind
« on: March 25, 2016, 09:18:35 am »

Steel Meridian is looking for smart, and fun folks to add to the fold.  Some of the best times we've had as clan mates has been pulling off wonky builds and learning new angles to come at the game with.  We dont fly the same thing over and over.   We do put the fun of the crew in the fore-front of our minds when we are flying with competent crews.  The aim is to continue to grow our competitive side.  We will not last second counter ship switch.  We will never leave a match of our own volition.

One of the stipulations is you must at the very least tolerate mines.  No mines.  No entry.  :)  The other is you must be willing to join our discord channel.

Use Chrome (if you must) but I recommend downloading the desktop app.  Join here https://discord.gg/0rNAvPKOse3DKaZt

To join add my name Red-xiii as a friend on Steam and apply in-game.  Logo of Team Highwind as avatar.

Team Highwind was created with the help of [POSH] Nyarlathotep by bringing random people interested in competitive play together.  The awesome logo was created by [ARSR] Blue Blazez who is also the co-creator of Team Highwind.  You don't have to leave your current clan to join the ranks.  If you have just been interested in competitive play and have been holding out, join us and well learn together.  Our first ScS was an enjoyable experience for the crew as a whole which is what prompted our recruitment post here today.  Myself and BlueBlazez are the current captains but others are welcome.

We represent multiple clans so the only stipulation is respect for your teammates and opponents.

To Join enter this group on steam http://steamcommunity.com/groups/teamhighwind and/or add Red-Xiii on steam with TeamHighwind as an avatar.

Feedback and Suggestions / Feeding Frenzy
« on: February 06, 2016, 11:02:01 pm »
This is my last attempt to bring to light the main issue in the actual in-game community.  I personally called out two level 45 pilots, not trying to be rude but attempting to to let them know their continual harassment via text and voice was not helping their level 7 captains learn the game.  On SALE WEEKEND nonetheless.  No tutorials are going to make them understand exactly how the game works until they are throw into the fray and figure it out.  Anyone who says otherwise is just being simply wants to argue tutorials.  Not reality.  No tutorial ever allowed you to fully grasp all the concepts of every game youve played.

DO YOU REALLY expect new people flying as friends in a crew to understand gun arcs, ship mechanics?  DO YOU REALLY think you should be flying with them or STACKED AGAINST THEM?  Come on now.  All this bitching and moaning about novices shouldnt fly and high levels come out of the woodwork and wreck them.  Game after game.  EVERY  single lobby I went to.  This is why the player base diminishes so quickly.  NOT EVEN AN ATTEMPT to help them.  The absolute SECOND I said hey ya gotta turn your ship to the side so your gunner can shoot we became useful.  But no.  High level players find it beneath them to help and actually seem to enjoy beating them down both with them and against them.  Its not one or two lobbies.  Its every one of them thats not a novice match.

Theres no excuse.  Theres no giving a book explanation as to why, or its muse fault for match making.  Or its a game let them burn.  It is a game.  Killem all.  But you will be back to playing by yourself because you continually killed the player base.  This the main problem in GOIO.  THE main.  Imo of course.  It is not a typical game.  Therefore its player base should act in a non-typical manner.  And be helpful.  Community has become to comfortable in their ways.  Clique.  You personally reading this may not be the problem specifically, but I guarantee everyone here has a huge part in the demise of new players.
