Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Altitude based, vertical map
« on: January 19, 2015, 03:44:15 pm »
I would be down for some vertical maps, but my initial problem with this is with the piloting blind spots.

Unfortunately most ships in the game have the entire ship below and the balloon up, thus when piloting it can be hard to judge where the enemy is if they're below or above your ship. Of course I love challenges but in this scenario your ship would go down very quickly without good crew and so a map like this would become niche very quickly.

Also most of the guns in this game have much better horizontal arcs than vertical arcs. The first ship to reach the bottom and pull up their 65 degree lumberjacks would have free reign to drop ships down into the pit.

Still willing to see what might happen though.

The risk versus reward of dropping blind to get lower faster, knowing if you hit an obstacle you'll crash or be blown up by the enemy, dropping double mine launcher pyramidions would dominate though, the ability to see below the nose and the spawn point has a peep hole too!

As for everyone mentioning caves, I beg to bring up the argument on not caves, Mines!

 http://www.weirdomatic.com/biggest-diamond-mine.html

Imagine years of mining to make  some of the huge leviathans' we play around, I think it'd me more legitimate of a vertical map to be a complex mine an opening to the sky which would be map roof. :)

Salute.

This is exactly what I was initially thinking with the whole vertical map idea (with some jutted out objects of perhaps previous mining tools?) The cave thing would be cool though, imagine you suddenly fly into a dead end, turn around, and see the enemy right behind you, sensing it was an ambush all along. Mmmmm, the fun to be had with such tactics. :P

Aldnoah Zero S2...

I FREAKEN CALLED IT!!! Inaho is back! Asselum is back! MUHAHAHAHA!! You think your cliffhanger was clever huh writers?! It was good, but BOOM!, saw through it!

In response:

Yeah, I kind of thought that way too. It just wouldn't seem right to kill of the main protagonist at the end of the first series, nor the princess.

Will admit though, was a good cliffhanger. Now I'm curious what awaits with the completely unforeseen blindside of Slaine switching sides and aiding Saazbaum. I sense a lot of tension in the future about that, just saying.

I actually consider Log Horizon a good blend of Sword Art Online and .hack//SIGN. It mixes greatly and everything, I just thought that in the 2nd season they slowed down the action wayyyy too much, which is kind of why I eventually just dropped it.

Finally an anime topic I can get into!

Watched the whole series from the start, and must say I loved it. It was definitely a twist as far as tropes go (the stoic main protagonist was definitely unique), and overall enjoyed it quite a bit. Have even listened to the opening song over 200 times by now.

Definitely pumped for Aldnoah.Zero 2, finally a good anime to watch again (got bored of Log Horizon II and SAO II mid-way through the season, hasn't been much else to entertain me since).

Prior to my whole PC-gaming addiction, I used to actively play a lot of Star Wars: Battlefront. The online mode does have a kick feature, and I've seen it used both in a good way, and in a bad way. I've been in servers where players were group-voted upon and kicked out just because they were bad at playing, and other times because legitimately they were being trolls. I've also been on the other hand of that spectrum as well, and know first-hand about the kick feature.

In my experience, kick-voting is just a tool that has too many cons to outweigh the pros of it. So it wouldn't shock me if Muse does not implement it (and hopefully they don't).

I know the whole matter has been thoroughly discussed by you guys, but I felt like tossing in my opinion on the topic as well.

Love the ideas. The cave thing would be awesome, as would the vertical height scenario. Though perhaps make it a bit larger. Perhaps make it so that the map size is a giant cylinder in essence, with objects jutting out on all sides at various heights, and perhaps make it large enough so that two ships can float at the same height level and open fire at each other (with wiggle room inbetween of course).

I guess the more I think of it, 1k km squared would do it. Correct me if I'm wrong, perhaps the middle section of Paritan (I mean the size of the big courtyard there), would be a good fit for a ship battle. I had enivisioned somehing a bit more compact though, as in only 2 ships (facing each other at the same height) and perhaps 100m of wiggle room total between the two ships would fill the diameter of the cylindrical map.

As far as scenario, how about a massive mining pit?

I'm still trying to figure out how to access the Workshop content you guys approved of? Where is it?

EDIT: Nevermind, found it in my own inventory. :P

Banker it is.  Cake variant may contain flamers, and will be called the Baker.  I still like Scrunker though.
Eh, I guess the two could be used simultaneously. Banker/Baker/Scrunker it is then. :P

Bunker's taken...

Scrunker?  As in Screech/Scream Junker?  Howunker?  Howl Junker?
Does that mean then that "Banker" would be an option? :P

Paid 3 dollars for the game, then another 5 for cosmetics.
You're welcome?

I think myself as a decent team player. Won my first four matches because we had a guy with a mic who knew what he was doing. He called the shots, and I followed. It was a lot of fun.

Then I lost the next few I played because it didn't have that level of direction.
I know that pain. I too have had good matches where a guy with a mic knows what he's doing, and is communicating well with his ally. On the other hand, I have had some bad ones because my crew was all jerks, or just because the other team was really experienced in the game.

I see you've taken a notice to Engineer by the looks of your level stats. If you want some pointers from a fellow engi, I'd be willing to teach what I know (still learning from fellow Gents above me actually), and get ya familiarized with ship layouts and the like. :)

General Discussion / Re: Left-handed Artemis
« on: December 20, 2014, 08:28:51 pm »
I've known for quite a while that the Artemis is my favorite gun in the game, and that I'm more accurate with it than with any other gun, and today, after 10 months of playing this game, I finally realized why. The Artemis is a left-handed gun.

If you look at the animation while on the gun, the Artemis is the ONLY gun that is on the left side. A few are center aligned (Light Flak, Harpoon, Morter, and Carronade) and all the rest are on the right side.

Has anyone else noticed this, or know why this may be? Also, if you are left-handed, do you find the Artemis easier to use? Do righties find it harder?
In the off-and-on experiences I've had handing an Artemis, I do find it's a tad easier to aim with. Not because its a straight-shot bullet like some other weapons, but indeed due to it's left-handed viewpoint. I myself am a lefty (except with a few items in particular), and I guess it is a tad easier to aim and fire with.

This sounds pretty fun!

Tell me when you decide to throw in all-gat Junkers, I'l be ready and waiting. :)

Why not 4v4 2 Gunker 2 DAKKA Squid each?
Not sure what a Dakka Squid is (still learning the terms of GoIO :P)

I was thinking perhaps we could do a 4v4 with 2 Gunkers and 2 full-carro Junkers (Carronkers). :D

'Dakka' is the WH40k Ork onomatopoeia for gun noises.  A Dakka Squid is therefore an all gat Squid.

I basically just made it up on the spot, so no worries.

What would you call an all Banshee Junker?

...Not that I fly one of course.  *nervous laugh*
Ah, I see. :P

And an all-Banshee Junker? I'm going to guess "Bunker", unless there's some other light weapon's name that starts with the letter "B". Perhaps a "Banker" even? :D
