Q&A / Re: Gunner with buff hammer?
« on: September 13, 2013, 11:02:49 pm »
How about Gungineer with buff hammer?

Actually this idea can be modified, I'll post here instead of making a new thread about it.

In a match where you need only one ammo type, (or using just one gun) go engineer with spanner/mallet/dynabuff, while the other two have default with fire fighting stuff.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Ball Turret

Perhaps it can be balanced by making so that it cannot aim up (obviously) or down very well. A flattened doughnut shaped FOV, sorta like a 360 degree merc. field gun.

General Discussion / Re: My issues with this game.

A captain is a captain, he can run his ship how he wants. Some are nice and communicative, others are not. While some take the "hard arse" route and see yelling cursing a an appropriate reprimand, go right ahead.

But just remember, if everything blows right up in your face don't expect people to sympathise with you or see it as
(entirely) the crews fault. This captain learned that the hard way.

I'm personally encourage the nice route and try my best to educate new players if they are willing to learn. And if I do get a bad crew and the nice route doesn't work, people won't see their actions being justified by a mean captain.
Which captain? The only captain that was communicating was friendly and humble. The other is a gunner and was being a dick. You seem to misinterpret where rage kicks in, for me at least. When I ask people to do stuff and they are giving me a bad attitude, they get a vocal correction, which is a relatively normal one. Only when the player proceeds to not care and not listen to what I say I start becoming angry and it's only in his direction; other crewmembers are relatively safe.

Let me reiterate: I don't care if people are new, bad, good, etc. My number 1 priority is that they LISTEN, if they do as they are told I don't have to look at my own ship and that means I can focus on doing MY job. When I do MY job, my fellow captain(s) can do their jobs and we can win. Even if we lose, it is not as big of a deal than when you lose because someone is screwing around.

EDIT: DERP I thought the gunner was the captain. I apologize for miscommunication I hope you forgive me. Either way a captain (or any player) should not act like that V

"OKAY PBG, WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING, WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING? WHAT THE HELL, WHY MAN, YOU CHOOSE THIS-THE F**ING GUNNER. WE NEED TWO FFFFFF***ING ENGINEER, TWO ENGINEER ON THE GOLDFISH! We gonna sink like a B***H!"

I see what you mean, I just hate having to yell, if it really is a bad sport it just gives them in their mind a reason to continue disobeying orders or even attack me back. I just don't want to wind up getting too angry and get hoist by my own petard. If worse comes to worse I find a new lobby after the game is finished since I don't want to rage quit.

The Pit / Re: Weapons that suck
« on: August 13, 2013, 02:31:15 am »
In WWII Russians used to strapped bombs to dogs, and trained them to run under tanks and when they got ran over the bomb would detonate. Moral problems aside, the dogs used were trained with russian tanks-which ran on diesel and the germans used petrol. Little did the russians know is that a lot of animals use scent over sight as their primary means of detection. See where this is going?

Giant forest. One team wants to burn it and the other wants to save it.

You, sir, have discovered a perfect application for a flame Squid.

I get that reviewers won't announce their presence for that gonzo feel, and yes this is from around 9 months ago, but he doesn't have a clue what the game is actualy about, yet he feels he can judge the game play.
Yeah it sucks, reviewers never put more that a few hours into a game so they can get quick views. And they never go back and reconsider afterwards. Some media sites actually won't let you-that is really stupid.

This is similar to the video doing the rounds on the forums where a captain curses a youtuber out for spawning in as a 2nd gunner on a goldfish - the youtuber did the classic "OK I've done the tutes, now I'm an expert", all that was missing was that he bring the buff hammer.
I seen that video, For the captain that was a crowning example of how not to treat your crew. And I seen that youtuber before. He uses lot's of sarcasm in his humor, he probably was having a laugh at his own inexperience.

General Discussion / Re: Is this kind of behavior acceptable in GOIO?
« on: August 10, 2013, 08:54:08 am »
Ok, PBG was a bit slow to start (If he wasn't new to the game how would he have known a 2nd gunner is bad?), however verbal abuse like that can't possibly be less worse. Albeit annoyed, I usually brush it off. But to put it simply compared to Team fortress or Starcraft our player base is really small. Upside people know eachother better, downside trolls have a larger impact by damaging an already small player retention.

That's why I'm a bit more vocal about these kinds of people here then mentioned above.

Block list? I was unaware of this function.
If you click on a player's name, you can select "Block X" in addition to "Add X as friend." This will prevent you from being able to hear their voice chat and see their text chat, which comes in very handy for spammers and other rule-breakers so you can peacefully ignore them. Just make sure if someone's breaking the rules that you also click to report them so that Muse can take any necessary action against them.
I can't stand players like that. Sorta the reason I was turned off of online multiplayer games for a long time. Oh don't worry. I will always have my new video capture software on standby when playing just in case if they decide to challenge my claim later.

PBG...noted for block list addition. The other guy goes nuts, but PBG should have some sense to not be a jerk by doing that.

What really gets my knickers in a twist is that (usually captains from what I have seen) treat their crews like this and they complain about noob scrub rage quitters. I could not tell you off the top of my head as to why players would rudely drop out on them in the middle of a match like that.
