There are certain unwritten rules about GOI that all new players need to know, that tend to cause conflicts and are not immediately obvious. Not just any tips, but important core ideas that the tutorials and game itself fail to explain. This information should be provided clearly , before new players can play a match. I'm looking for you guys to add to this list and hopefully it can make the GOI experience better for everyone. Something along the lines of these:

This game is all about teamwork and communication, you will not succeed alone.

There is no good reason to have more than one gunner. Engineers can shoot and keep the ship intact. Gunners only provide ammo variety.

You should learn the game as crew before attempting to pilot.

Gameplay / Smooth mouse enabled by default

Why? Why would any developer of a game that requires aiming do this?

The Spire has had never ending balance discussions, but the real issues are right here.

-The Spire needs a crows nest. if the Spire is going to be this tall, you should allow us to use that height, to climb all the way to the top of the balloon to spot enemies and use our.. range finders.

-CHUTE VENT RAM. The point on the bottom of the Spire should actually function as the vertical pyramidion i imagine it to be.

-The space where the balloon used to be is a great spot for the cage to put naughty insubordinate crew members in, but it could also be used for a ladder up to the crows nest.

-I even mentioned the crows nest once or twice when playing with Bubbles. I thought he loved the Spire more than his firstborn child.

-Acceleration, because it's fun (and balance).

-Exclusive heavy weapon, a cannon that shoots glass.

-Whenever Clan Clan flies a Spire, we seem to do best with little to no permanent hull left. Please remove most of the Spires permanent hull.

-When the Spire gets damaged to a certain point, the bottom part of the ship should break off, reducing the ships vertical profile and increasing its speed due to lost weight, allowing it to escape.

-Decal that paints the balloon as a bright red bullseye.

Feedback and Suggestions / Always running 3v3 & 4v4 lobby

I'm really not that knowledgeable on how everything works server side. But i feel it would help if there was always a running 3v3 & 4v4 lobby on the match list. These larger games would be more likely to fill up, especially at certain times. If they are always available without someone having to take initiative. Because of the small playerbase, some people never get to play these maps. And even i have barely seen a 4v4 in the last months.

Feedback and Suggestions / Better default throttle controls
« on: September 17, 2014, 03:04:22 am »
The default control scheme for the helm is clumsy. It takes a moment to get used to, i like W & A for up and down, A & D for left and right, but i always found the R & F keys for throttle to be awkward. Aside from the fact that the E key is in between and can get you to fall off the helm (and fall off the ship). I think everyone fumbles a little bit with moving the ship with just their left hand using the default set up. When you are on the helm, the only thing you use your mouse for is looking around (or scrolling to use helm tools but the number keys are better for that). So because of this, many pilots have changed their controls, and i think the most common change is throttle on left and right mouse click. It makes sense, since throttle is not a key you hold, but change quickly. So i propose to make this the new default, if not, maybe a few people can use this post to change their controls for the better.

The Gallery / Free Advertising (GOI items in TF2)

I don't know where to post this, or if i even needed to make a thread, but i just wanted to show these Team Fortress 2 items to the community. The scattergun, one of my favorite main weapons is named the "Gun of Icarus". The Conscientious Objector has a GOI decal on it, and is named the "Free Advertising", this way i can beat them over the head with my favorite team-based game!
