So, one of the main things I've been wondering through all this balance and short range brawl vs long range snips is... just how much enjoyment are folks deriving from either? So I figured I'd make a poll for it here (yes, the forums is just a small sample size and doesn't mean anything, but it's a good anonymous way to see how people really feel about the subject without being judged).

Also, when I say long range I mean looooooooong range, like the lumberjack/merc battles we see, not art/hades that's been happening more recently which I feel can be considered more medium range type of battles. And no, the nuance and positioning of such long battles isn't lost to me, I do understand just how insanely tactical positioning can be, what I'm really wanting to find out here is how many people go long range because they actually prefer that play style vs how many people do so because they think it's the best way to win (and not judging here, I'm truly curious and understand that some have way more fun when they win regardless of how good of a match it was).

What:
A weekly, open-to-all lobby. In addition to the games, there will also be a spreadsheet available which will track participant’s win/loss record while playing in the games. The matches will be 2v2, if eventually it's popular enough I may make it 3v3.

Where:
In game it will be called Tuesday Night Fight Cast. The games will also be streamed at http://www.twitch.tv/imagine42

When:
Every Tuesday, 5pm-8pm PST (the end times can vary, but thereabouts). The first one will occur on 9/3/13.

Why:
Partly for myself to practice casting, but also because I think it can be a fun thing to look forward to.

Additional Details:
1. In addition to streaming the matches, I will also track win/loss stats. This google drive spreadsheet will list win/loss based on a captain’s ship, map, and a combination of the two, as well as ones for engineers and gunners. The engineer and gunner stats won’t also be categorized by ship and map as I feel that is largely irrelevant, but also doing the same combination for every job type would start to get to be way too much work.

Spreadsheet link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApeYvav5m3zWdFZkWVBoLWJCNjlqQWNkZGpPM3JNM2c&usp=sharing

2. I realize this time is not so EU friendly, and all I can say is sorry, but I have a day job thus I can only run these at about the time I listed above.

3. Casting will be done by myself, but I may also have some special guest casters on every now and then!

4. While I’m planning on keeping the lobby open for all (this is not meant to be a tournament of any sorts), if a couple of teams wish to use it to play some scrims, please contact me at least a day beforehand to discuss that possibility.

5. If anyone has any questions feel free to respond here or to send me a message… otherwise I hope to see everyone out there on Tuesdays!

Feedback and Suggestions / System Chat Messages for server downtime
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:48:21 pm »
Hi Guys,

I'd like to start by thanking the Muse team for being on the ball with the servers, I'm thrilled that whatever issue that arises is being dealt with in minutes. However, I think it'd be quite worthwhile to include a system message in chat, or at least have a green name pop in and let folks know a quite approximation for downtime, even if it doesn't end up being super accurate.

I'm only bringing this up because there were some brand new people who had just bought the game and were freaking out about servers not responding (and then it suddenly went down without any notice), and I think it would probably alleviate the anxiety of anyone who doesn't follow twitter or the forums.

It's just a small thing, but those often count!

The Signal Tower / Casting your games - let me know when!
« on: June 08, 2013, 10:58:26 pm »
So, as more or less of an official GoI caster, I'd like to get some practice some of it. While I could just jump into random games and go from there, I'd also like to work on casting some higher level play as that tends to differ a lot from randoms games.

So, if you have a scrim, or some game you'd like to see casted (who knows, maybe you want to have a video record of one to study for review purposes?), please let me know here or just find me in game, and I'll see if it works out with my schedule.

My twitch stream is http://www.twitch.tv/imagine42 (I stream various stuff there so don't be surprised if you see other games, but it's GoI I'd like to focus on for casting purposes :))

Community Events / Tournament Results page
« on: June 01, 2013, 03:43:40 pm »
Well, hoping I'm not stepping on any toes here, but I've started a rudimentary tournament results page. It's very basic right now and I'll try to make it prettier in the upcoming days, but hopefully we can keep it updated :)
