The harpoon creates a rift between it and the launcher. As soon as it hits a ship it generates a rope where the rift was. The two ships are now linked neurally.

Why is there a screwdriver on some ships?

The problem as I see it, is that buffed guns only have one advantage.

Higher damage per projectile/particle.

So any ammo with a con that lowers damage is going to have that con negated, thereby removing whatever balance the con made.


The simple answer is to remove all cons that reduce damage. Place new cons that reduce a different property.


The other way is to change how the buff hammer works.

Maybe buff the guns other properties but reduce the damage buff. Quicker turning speed or reload speed are good properties to start with.


The most complicated and direct solution is to change buff properties depending on ammo. Give a slight buff to whatever their primary function is.

Examples:

Lesmok + buff = longer range/faster speed.

Greased + buff = quicker firing rate

EDIT: The buff hammer would increase damage on vanilla rounds.

Agreed Zill. One tool doesn't warrant another slot.

The unique utility of it however, inspired the idea for an Omni/General tool slot.

And that does need a few more tools to make it useful.

Which is why we hve been suggesting different ideas for new tools that would fit in that slot and maybe move the spyglass there as well.

There's another tool currently in the works already (mentioned earlier in thread) that would fit in this slot as well.

We just a need a few more and then there just might be a need for the Omni/General tool slot.

I like the idea of implementing it this way: General tools can be used in all current class slots.

EDIT: To clarify, no new slot would be added, just the ability to take general tools in each role's slots.

So a gunner could technically take a spyglass in the Repair slot. Not useful right now, but with different tools it might be.
