Title: nobody doing what they are suppost to do
Post by: Tod on September 22, 2013, 11:45:34 am
it's gotten to the point where i can't enjoy playing on random servers.

where i'm a gunner class joining a in session match with a crew of engineers. ALL only repairing the gun they were sitting on and not the broken hull or the fires all over the bloody ship.

a Feature should be added to allow the captain to Restrict the number of Gunner classes. and also keep other classes like the engineer from using it so that mabye a ship of new guys might have a chance

Just no.
I barely get the situation cause when i notice someone not doing what he is supposed to do i explain them what to do and it works. Surely not as good as a experienced crew would do but hey. Its still pubs.

I'm rather confused with what you're asking, care to explain?

As far as i understood he wants to get a tool to limit certain classes for a ship (which wouldnt be the bad) and he wants a tool to block certain ppl from weapons so they cant use them and rather repair as engineer then also shoot.

I like the first suggestion about limiting classes, actually. A captain could set each slot to a certain class, and anybody joining the ship would be required to conform to that.

I said this on the old forums. Just not a focus it seems.

All engineers can shoot. I don't need any gunners.

I agree with you so very much, but this isn't the place for that discussion.

but...
what if we want to fly 3 boats of all pilots against another team?

Then you don't use the class-locking system! The captain would choose which roles they wanted on the ship.

I'd still prefer some kind of comedy punishment you could toggle like keel hauling where the offending player gets suspended below the ship and whisked back and forth four or five times, or a gigantic arrow above their head with a floating text message describing their failing as a crew mate which will follow them around for the next 10 minutes. Humour often makes a less barbed point. It could even be integrated into the comm rose.

Caclio Just to evolve on your point of the arrow above the head (which i love the idea of :D) How about leaving Reviews of players you've crewed with on their profile?

I could see that getting used maliciously though. I could also see the arrow getting misused but it would only last for 10 minutes.
