I play natural selection 2. Both very cool-looking FPS games with an often-overlooked layer of strategic depth, absolutely reliant on cooperation/teamwork (tiny bit less for marines). Also, you can fly in both games. However NS2 is a lot more difficult to play initially because there are no tools to learn (like novice matches, CAs) except built-in outdated tutorial videos, and individual fights are paced in milliseconds. You also aren't constantly running around next to each other, so it can be harder to teach people. However, nothing beats the feeling of gleefully sneaking up on an oblivious marine, or the rush of chomping down an observatory just before a beacon finishes, or forming up in the vents for a massed push on nanogrid.

Basically, most people seem to think it's more profitable to have someone disabled and slowly dying than to have someone dodging your hades shots with full engine health.

Pretty much every client has a /ignore command, including the web-based ones. And yes, IRC has exactly the same appeal as using GOI chat, except that you don't need GOI running and eating cpu/ram while you're chatting, and you also get better moderation tools.

It would be nice to have a bot with weapon/ship stats, for example. The ability to comfortably PM people is great. Automatic flood protection is great. There are certainly other things I can't think of right now. Basically, giving us an irc channel would let the CA mods things do their jobs better/easier, while letting muse focus on improving other parts of the game.

For an example of how to do it, check out http://forums.wolfire.com (the devs of lugaru, overgrowth, humble bundle, etc.) and their irc website chat.

Making the flamer have 2 damage types will not solve the problem that flame stacks on anything except balloon and hull can be easily ignored, and those two components are easily sprayed. That's what this and hamster's thread https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,3302.0/topicseen.html aim to address.

Also, another idea: what if having fire stacks on a gun or engine made other repairs to it less efficient?

I was just saying that the principle is the same- an explosive charge filled with tiny particles that does massive damage to engines. Basically this ammo type would turn every gun into a lumberjack for one shot. Besides, if you want to slow someone down there's an artemis already.

I would really not want to see killstreak rewards, because they cheapen the game and make for more lopsided matches and harder comebacks.

that's not true because the range finder does not work through ships clouds or solid objects, but the spyglass does.

I'm sorry for my poor wording in the op. I'd like to collect achievements here which need muses attention for whatever reason - bugs and improper tasks alike.
As for the map achievements: I agree that many of them are rather tedious and I think they bottleneck the progress for many players.

Here are two more achievements which should be altered:

Pilot Mastery 9 - Sight Lines
spot 50 ships at a distance greater than 1000m while unspotted

Pilot Mastery 10 - Joygliding
spent 900 seconds using helm skills.

I think I needed two evenings to get these two. That didn't feel quite right after I've spent weeks to get the achievements prior to them.

For joygliding, just go into an empty match, turn on impact bumpers, put something heavy on the 'ascend ship' button, and go get some food or whatever.
