Gameplay / Re: Rapid Fire - Left Click

That link isn't dangerous, it's just the way the cloud redirects to a page before linking to the file.   :-[

But here's a different link on Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1albvx9ebisqw74/GoI%20Autoclickies.mp4

Is this less suspicious?

Yeah, there's a pretty big difference between holding down the mouse and rapidly clicking the mouse when rebuilding.

Here's a short clip I captured using FRAPS (you can play this in VLC, I have no experience with video editing so I just compressed it). The first rebuild is done by holding down left-click. The second rebuild is done by using an autoclick script.

If someone wants to do a frame-by-frame comparison or something like that, go ahead.

What if you joined in a spectator slot instead of in a ship slot?

Q&A / Gatling fire rate?
« on: August 30, 2013, 02:46:54 pm »
Does anyone know the exact rate of fire of the gatling? I want to crunch some numbers regarding the hull armor and gatling, but I need this statistic. I've tried searching through the past patch notes, but nothing.  :(

General Discussion / Re: Ship stats Vs. Ship looks

I take issue with the fact that, barring the Galleon and Goldfish, the Squid has more permahull than any other ship.

That's a good idea. This way, even the people who choose to skip the tutorial will be forced to learn a little (unless they shift-tab to read something else).

We even have a bunch of tips already in this thread!

General Discussion / Re: GoI:O on Playstation
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:37:00 pm »

Yes, it'll be totally cross-platform. From what I understand that was an important factor in choosing to go with PS4—the fact that it wouldn't be split into two separate games.

Well, that means we should be seeing a much larger player base, and good thing Controllers do not have Keyboards to type in global. (Even though I would assume there will be a system so they can pull up a keyboard and type, just will be slow on a controller)

I don't know if the PS4 will have it, but you can definitely connect a USB or Bluetooth keyboard to the PS3. I've done it before to type in MGO. I predict that most PS4 GOI players won't have a keyboard, but that won't stop determined troublemakers from either connecting their own or finding other ways to annoy us.

They probably still have mics to shout over.

There are a LOT of mics on PSN. I still remember the last time I was on there *shudders*

Gameplay / Re: Please explain hull damage?
« on: August 27, 2013, 06:28:28 pm »
Quick question: The pyra has a spike on the front of its balloon that counts as hull armor, right? Does this mean that shooting the spike will apply damage to the hull/armor?

General Discussion / Do you use any custom keybinds?
« on: August 25, 2013, 11:22:19 pm »
Do you use any custom keybinds? If so, share them here!

For me, I have:
PushToTalk set to Left Control - Lets me talk without having to move my middle finger away from the WASD keys
Map set to Left Shift - Lets me check the map very easily without having to move my hand

Feedback and Suggestions / Black hair
« on: July 05, 2013, 05:41:58 pm »
This probably isn't a priority in terms of gameplay, but it still annoys me.

You can customize your character to have blonde hair. Or red hair. Or white hair.  Or four different shades of brown hair. But there's no black hair. The darkest shade of brown comes nowhere near black.

And it's not like people with black hair are a small minority, either: "Black hair is the darkest and most common of all human hair colors globally."

I don't know how much work it will take to implement a new hair color, but I'd definitely be happy if black hair becomes a reality in GoI Online.
