MKII Mercury
« on: January 22, 2018, 05:38:11 pm »
There have been a few suggestions floating around for some time now on Mercury balance. One of the main ones is bringing back the fabled 'noodley merc'. This version come from 2012. Another wish people had expressed is more of a turret type gun that is less restricted by its position on the ship. We have decided to do a test run by combining these two wishes.

Mercury MKII stats

Primary damage: 60 Piercing
Secondary damage: 250 Shatter.
Turn speed: 100deg/s
Up arc: 20 (from 15)
Down arc: 20 (from 5)
Horizontal arcs: 180 (from 15) (360deg of coverage)
To combat these buffs, we are removing the zoom function.

The resulting gun will be able to quickly acquire targets in any direction around the ship.

The results of the poll have come in... and 50% of voters have a clever sense of humor.

Alas, we will not be having a 360 noscope gun in GOI. The Memegun is too much for us to handle.

For the people that thought this was serious and voted 'No', well, look on the bright side. It isn't. :)

...if this ain't serious from the beginning, then why the fuck you even bother making it look like a serious question?

To amuse the people with a clever sense of humor, dear sir. It wouldn't be funny if it didn't look serious, then you suddenly see that it is a joke. It is extra funny when people don't get it, and it has to be explained to them to the amusement of those that did. It is the age old tradition of "pulling one's leg".

Smile.

I have to say I did take this question seriously.  I somehow managed to overlook the part with 180° arcs.  Everything else seemed legitimate.  Somewhat better arcs, and quick turning, at the cost of losing the scope zoom and of reduced damage.  The damage might have to be reduced further after testing, but it seemed like something that could be worked with.  Also, there was an actual mercury discussion recently in the experimental crew discord, so the fact that this poll was being asked seemed to follow logically from the fact that better mercury arcs were legitimately discussed not very long ago.

I was going to vote no, but after some thought, it seemed like something that would actually be useful to players and that I could see myself using.  So I voted yes in the end.

There have been sillier talks of changes in experimental discord. This isn't absurd to me at all.

What's even a point in posting stuff you don't plan on introducing nor gathering data on? It's not April fools day.

Oh boy. It took me a while to dig out of all that salt that just fell out of the sky. Super strange weather we are having.

Since it seems that there is an actual interest in a MKII Noodle Merc, we have opened up talks on it. The current suggestions are:

Much better arcs. Maybe flare level arcs?
Fast rotation.
Less damage.
No zoom.

Add your suggestions.

Muse is currently not working on the MKII project, so it might take some time to work this into production if approved.
