Oh oh, I'ma do this as my introductory post to the community forum. So, sup people!
So, my naming theme is either very stupidly subtle double innuendo or just bad pun, usually revolving around inner circle jokes of my RL friend circle.

Galleon - Krobe Depantie
First Krope Dela Pootis or something, but I felt it was too obvious and too TF2'ish, so.. Yeah.

Spire - Raising Tree By Dawn
Subtle morning wood joke there.. Because.. Spire is a log?

Junker - Derriere Lefist
It'll sink from behind.. I tell ya.

Pyramidion - Scarveliauta
Sounds like neat mythological name or something? Those who speak the same main language as I am will spot a stupid spurdo thing.

Mobula - Inconspicious Brick
Pun on the mobula's brick like shape. Even better, I've a CQC loadout for it that is.. 23% effective.

Goldfish - Bob
Short name for a short lived pet, gets it?

I've recently renamed my ships to have a cohesive theme. If you've read The Old Kingdom Chronicles by Garth Nix, then you will know why I named them like this. For those who haven't read the books, suffice to say that the main character uses seven magical bells, that do different things.

Mobula-Ranna   Ranna is the Sleeper, and the smallest bell. The mobula kinda looks like a pillow, and is one of the smallest ships.

Goldfish-Mosrael  Mosrael is the Waker, a loud bell. Most people's first ship, whether to crew on or pilot, is the Goldfish.

Squid-Kibeth  Kibeth is the Walker, a multipurpose bell that is difficult to use. The squid is all about mobility, and you can easily screw up with it.

Pyramidion-Dyrim  Dyrim is the Voice, it can be used to silence the living. (This one was kinda iffy with how it fits with the theme.)

Junker-Belgaer  Belgaer is the Thinker. The Junker is a highly versatile ship, and along with the mobula, has the most loadout options. This require the Pilot to think more so about what they will use than on other ships.

Galleon-Saraneth  Saraneth is the Binder, a large bell that commands authority. The Galleon has more firepower than most of the ships, and is the largest. Saraneth isn't the largest bell, that will be the next one, but it is used often by the main character. It is used to dominate and subjugate, and used properly, the Galleon can dominate the playing field.

And last but not least,

Spire-Astarael  Astarael is the Banisher, and also known as Astarael the Sorrowful. It's the glass cannon of the bells. Used properly it kills everyone who hears it, even the user. So it is arguably the most powerful, but the most dangerous to use.

And those are my ships. To anyone who hasn't read the series, I highly recommend it.

Only gonna list the ones with established names. Also, my names are dumb.

Mobula - Prom Queen
No real reason behind it other than I was discussing how me and my girlfriend were prom queen and king just after I said how I have no permanent name for my Mobula. For some reason, I felt Prom Queen suited the rather pretty and prissy ship better than any of the temporary names I went for before.

Spire - Inverted Bong
It looks like one and it suits my lifestyle somewhat. Plus, glass cannon matches up with an actual bong by my warped sense of correlation.

Junker - Anime
It's trash (in the sense that it is made of trash, not that it's a trash ship).

Galleon - Bang Phalange
To match our clan name, Fingerbang, in a way that sounds a little nicer off the tongue. I didn't put huge amounts of thought into my ship names, as y'all can see. When I first came to the game, I thought that Galleon was going to be my go to - muh big guns. Little did I know that it's easily countered and by no means more powerful than any other ship.

Any ideas on how I can continue with my dumb names? Other ships tend to have a new name every match.

I need to think of better names.

If possible, keeping the HMCS.

And of course, Fist of the Unicorns is perfect.

My ship names change very often, and most have a theme to them. The current theme is locations in the game "Sunless Sea"

Pyramidion: Venderbight. A colony of nearly dead citizens all completely wrapped in bandages.

Junker: Avid Horizon. A gateway to and unknown location guarded by giant statues.

Mobula: Irem. A city where conversations will take place in future tense.

Spire: The Gant Pole. An area which contains large corpses and legendary ships.

Galleon: Grand Geode. A huge volcanic crystal on which a town sits guarding The Dawn Machine.

Squid: Polythreme: A city where clay "workers"  are manufactured and led by the king of 100 hearts.

Goldfish: Gaider's Mourn. A town full of ruffians and pirates of all sorts.

I came across a player the other day who had a ship with the following name:

"USS SS USSR."

I thought the ship was called the

"United Space Ship - Schutzstaffel of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics"

Thats a pretty original and unusual name

I believe the person thought of it as

United Space Ship, Steam Ship and I cannot remember what his version of USSR meant...  :-[

All of my airships are named after the airships in my Steampunk novel...that I am yet to finish (14,000 words so far, it's little, I know.)
Spire- The Man O' War, a guard ship used for guarding against sky pirates.
Junker- The Bolted Nut, A 'Snatcher' ship, basically petty thieves, much like lesser sky pirates, very poor.
Galleon- The Primrose, A pirate ship, that's it.
Goldfish- The Sultry Siren, a shuttler airship, much like a taxi service.
Squid- The Hawkeye, another shuttler airship, but with better weaponry, more expensive.
Mobula- The Manta, similar to the spire, another guard airship, but used as more of a floating barracks rather than an actual offensive craft.
Pyramidion- The Burning Blubber, a ship primarily used for hunting Sky-Whales, and Leviathan whales, (like Sky-Whales but much, much larger.)

Since 3/7 ships have names of sea creatures, I decided to name mine all after sea creatures, using genus names:

Goldfish - Carassius
Squid - Todarodes (flying squid, literally)
Mobula - Batoidea (Mobula is already a genus name, so I used the Superorder name)
Junker - Balaenoptera (the Junker isn't the biggest ship, but its balloon looks whale-shaped)
Pyramidion - Xiphias (because swordfish also have a pointy end)
Spire - Hippocampus (it flies upright like a seahorse)
Galleon - Salacia - (This one is different, named after the Roman goddess of the Sea, because the Galleon is a grand, royal ship and doesn't fit a sea creature that I could think of)

I enjoyed naming my ships. That's really when they became MY ships.

You could have named it after a whale, but

He named the junker after a whale. But CleverDan, that's a pretty cool set of names. Quite original.

I don't pilot very often but of the ships I do use:

Goldfish: Herald of Sylka (It used to be called the Cloud Cutter but I decided to go for something more grounded in the world and I needed to pick a side in that whole Nalm-Sylka rivalry. The Goldfish is also my favourite looking ship too and is fairly easy to pilot.)

Pyramidion: Battenberg (It's a nice cake.)

Squid: Night Sparrow (Seemed appropriate.)
