Lobby Swap Suggestion
« on: April 05, 2015, 10:28:32 am »
As you know, clans and pre-made groups that want to play together are
frustrated with matchmaking. One of the current workarounds used by
groups of pre-made ships is to make their own lobby.

While making our lobbies is almost a great alternative to queuing in
matchmaker, there is a huge issue that frustrates us: team scramble.
There is a toggle to turn this off or on when making a lobby, but
regardless of  if you do use it, once you start recruiting from the
matchmaker it's turned on. Therefore, it's pretty pointless to even
have it.

Now pre-made lobbies would be great if after our match, we returned to
our lobby with the same teams (since the whole reason we are doing
this is to play together). If the intention is to force us to swap
with other players, then it won't work. All we do is leave that lobby
and make a new one, thus creating more stress on matchmaker. Everytime
we go through a new game, it's a new lobby with more half empty
lobbies piling up in our wake.

I would ask that you guys seriously consider making the team swap
toggle actually work, so that we can choose to be in a lobby with our
one team if we so choose. If you are concerned the other teams will
get stomped, well they will leave after if that's the case. At least
we will not be making a new lobby after. They can go on their merry
way solo queuing, and we can at least be able to sit in a lobby a
little bit more relaxed because we can pretend the frustrations of
matchmaking have been taken away.

As an added bonus we can stay in our lobby forever, socializing with
strangers like we used to do in the days of olde. It may not sound
like a lot, but being able talk to others while we wait for the queue
to recruit people into our game is a lot better than being alt tabbed
to youtube while in the matchmaker.

Since there is a plan to create no-limit rematch with votes (if >=60% of the lobby votes yes - there's a rematch), why shouldn't we make the same voting for scramble/non scramble? Let scramble be default and if 60% people votes not to scramble - it won't.

It's so simple. So elegant. So brilliant. Why it isn't in the game yet?

I am writing to Muse like, right away. They must know.

Would also be good if the scramble / no scramble feature should be toggle-able by the Lobby host / creator.
That way if a scramble is needed scramble can be selected for the next match.

I miss my

Duck Pond
Duck, Duck, >^-^<
Frogger's game
etc.

At least then when people entered out stacked lobbies, we could explain it was practice and do our best to warn them.

Now we just get cussed out for pub stomping as MMR literally only pulls in novices to fight us.
