Tips while waiting
« on: March 28, 2015, 12:29:44 pm »
Crafeksterty gave me a gread idea for a thread:
Write what kind of advice you think should be displayed while waiting in the crew formation. Try to keep it simple. If we collect some nice ideas perhaps Devs will put them into the game.

That Lochnager is awfully powerful. It's a shame it will blow your gun in half to use it.

you can Buff during cooldowns.

Mortar is useless against armor. Maybe you should combo it with a piercing weapon?

Make sure you command your crew to their respective roles as a captain.

Make sure you are ready to communicate with people using microphone or chat.

Experiment with ships and guns by going into Practice!

Dont be blind, get off your gun to see what is around you!

First take out enemy armor with Percing weapons, then you can kill them with explosive weapons!

Fire and Shatter are damage types made to disable and cause difficulty to the enemy.

The open eye beside your compass means that you are spotted by the enemy!

Most helm tools activate when you select them.

It is futile to repair something during the cooldown between repairs.

Quick ships, Tanky ships, Gun ships... find what you like by going into practice with each ship. Some are harder to manage, but yield more options!

Bind map to Q

@Lanliss

I'd change it to

"Various guns are effective against different thigs. For instance, mortar is useless against armour."

@Crafeksterty

Those are great, maybe except the last one. I'd change it to sth like: "Map allows you to see allies and spotted enemies. Use it often"

--------------------------------------------------------------

Repairing is more important than buffing. Don't buff during a fight.

Chemspray is used to 'prevent' fires.

Ask your captain about your loadout and duties on the ship.

You can help with the rebuilds, but not with the repairs.

Remember your voice commands when shooting! It's easier than typing, and let's you get back to damaging the enemies faster.

I know 100% there are tips when waiting to join a game solo and suspect those same tips are displayed the in crew form too, but need to double check if they are or are nit there..

If they are then I guess this thread proves that people.wouldn't read them anyway...

Tips already include: Communicate with your team and crew, when in a match press X to talk to your crew, pilots can press C to talk to their ally pilot.
Long waiting time in the lobby? Use this time to check your ship load out and your enemies loadouts.
Team work is vital, everyone must play their part effectively to be successful.
There are many other tips too, for example "Chem spray will prevent fires but extinguishers only put them out."

Quickly flying in by yourself and leaving your teammates behind is a great way to get killed.  Fly in formation instead!

Flamethrowers ruining your day?  Replace fire extinguishers with chem spray, and use it on components just before an engagement!

If at first you don't succeed, blame it on the other captain.

Kamoba, we know that there are tips in game. That's why we suggest another ones we'd like to see.

And I believe most of us suggest the ones we didn't see.

You can see what ally and enemy ships are equipped with by clicking their ship name in the Lobby.

Some weapons have "Arming Times" which prevent them from being effective at close range.

One engineer is not enough to keep a ship in the sky.

When you join a game and you see that you are a 2nd gunner - change to engineer.

Some pilot tools damage components, if you use tools too much you can break components.

Captaining requires a lot of knowledge, try yourself in engineering and gunning before you try piloting.

As a captain, did you know you can target ships for your crew? Default button is B while aiming over an enemy ship to show a brief indication to your crew about what ship to target.

Bind map to Q because it is super easy.
Bind target ship to shift. Cus we dont use shift for nuthin (speaking for muse)

The usual format is 2 engineers, 1 gunner and 1 pilot. But that does not mean the engineers dont fire a gun.

Did you know, there is a competetive community for guns of icarus online? Check out the forums!

Learning weapon arcs (The limit of which weapons can aim) can greatly help you make an advantage over your enemy. Click on their ship name during lobby to see what guns they are bringing!
