Recently I bought XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
I've always heard much good about this game, and considering the fact I'm quite a fan of games like Jagged Alliance 2 (but fuck, fuck Wildfire as hard as it fucked me up) or Silent Storm 2 (1: Hey, I think I've heard someth- 2: DAKKA DAKKA DAKKAAAA 3: And a fucking TNT! 1: ...great work dumbfucks, ya killed a civilian 2&3: Lol), I thought I'll give it a go.
First complaint: You try to tell there's no position toggle? This is... this is... unusual, to say the least, considering just mentioned games. ^^
Second complaint: What's the fucking point of having an LMG (except for making MLG jokes) in yer squad, when game has no spread mechanic? I mean, the situation, when the bullet misses the target, and has a chance of hitting something else, as it does not magically disappear in thin air.
Third complaint is similar to the previous one. Let's consider a situation: You have a "human centepede" of soldiers, standing right in front of each other. Suddenly - a wild enemy appears in front. The last in line goes full-auto. What happens in games:
- Fallout Tactics: You've just massacred yer squad. GG.
- Silent Storm: You've just massacred Guy in front of you, others get heavily wounded and have decreased ability to fight the bastard. GG.
- Jagged Alliance: You've just massacred Guy in front of you, others get heavily wounded and have harshly decreased ability to fight the bastard. Who, by the way, earns an interruption, and finishes the rest of the squad. GG.
- XCOM: Enemy Unknown: YOU GUYS ARE SO NIHILISTIC, YOU DON'T EVEN EXIST FOR MY BULLETZ. No, seriously, nothing happens to them.
Aside from that - the game is good, challanging, has nice character customization (in terms of dem mad skillz (like motherfucking snipers, snipers OP)), and nicely done resource management.
PS: Fuck mutons.
