11/1/14 - Aerodrome: S.o.R. Episode 1: Carrion for Ravens
« on: October 27, 2014, 06:56:40 pm »

Its here! The week 1 match list for Aerodrome: Skies of Retribution. This week is the march of the Fjordlanders as they make their debut in the bloody battle in the desert.
So without further adieu here is Aerodrome Season 2 Episode 1: Carrion for Ravens

Match 1: Cakewatch: Flamefeld Minelayers vs SPQR
Map: Desert Scrap

The fleets have been launched, the battle lines have been drawn, and now the first shots of the war are fired. Once again the route over the sands is the key to the war effort for both the Coalition and the Pact. Securing it means securing a crucial supply route the Barons desperately need to strike deep into Yesha. The Pact knows this, and wants to secure it themselves to push back and then advance deep into the Fjordlands and Chaladon.

Leading the charge against the Pact is the Coalition vanguard fleet SPQR and confronting them is the first fleet of the Pact’s massive Cakewatch army, the Flamefeld Minelayers. The outcome of this war could very well rest on this battle, one that is expected to be fierce and very bloody.

Match 2: Storm Ryders vs WoD & Clan Clan
Map: Firnfeld

As the main fleets of both forces clash, Pact aligned forces stationed in Anglea attempt to flank and strike at Coalition supply lines. Led by remnants of the famed Crimson Rhino Ryders, the Storm Ryders seize on this opportunity hoping to cut off the Coalition’s advance and leave Coalition forces stranded in the sands.

But while the Coalition has routed most forces to the main charge upon Yesha, they have not left their flanks exposed completely.

In charge of securing Firnfeld, the combined Coalition forces from the Wings of Daedalus and Clan Clan have been scrambled to meet the Ryders and stop them in their tracks.

Match 3: Cakewatch: Dragontown Bombers vs Hydra
Map: Canyon Ambush (NP-VIP)

As the vanguard fleet distracts the Pact in the desert, Coalition special forces under the command of Hydra, have slipped past Pact lines, tasked with a search and kill mission. Targeting Pact commanders and inciting chaos among the Pact leadership as they travel to the front lines.

Charged with escorting a Yeshan general to the front, Cakewatch has sent their second fleet, the Dragontown Bombers, to handle the assignment. If the general makes it, his strategies and tactics could quickly turn the outcome of the war. If not, confusion could spread through the ranks of the Pact, allowing the Coalition to exploit and advance on new lands.

Match 4: Green Sun vs CSM
Map: Dunes (BC-VIP)

The desert battle rages, and allies of the Pact from Guild lands, bringing supplies to Pact forces, have happened upon a chance they cannot ignore. A very prominent Baron and one of the commanders of the King’s fleet is leading a reinforcement squadron attempting to reinforce losses sustained on the front lines.

This Baron is not expecting a battle, especially not from Guild ships. Seeing this as an opportunity to show their commitment to the Pact, the Green Sun Trading Co. has broken away from the supply convoy and has set up an ambush amidst the sea of sand and wind.

But not is all as it seems, for those the Baron is leading is none other than more remnants of the Crimson Rhino Ryders. Those who refused to side with the Pact and who have sought protection in the Fjordlands. Now going by the name, Crimson Sky Menace, they have been given to this Baron to graft into Coalition fleets.

The Coalition cannot turn down allies, especially not those from a decorated veteran fleet. Should Green Sun succeed, the Coalition leadership will be hurt with the loss of one of it’s commanders, but even more so will be the confidence in the CSM’s loyalties. However, should CSM prevail and successfully protect their Baron, new more important tasks will be given to them and Pact forces will feel the pressure from the guns of their former allies now bearing down.

Anyone who has not responded to my personal messages regarding either skype or the steam group needs to do so now so I can add you.

Lastly we are currently short 3 ships. The Bully Boys will attempt to have ships ready to fill in but new ships able to join or alliance ships with players interested in flying an extra match, please state interest now.

Time Change Coming

This is a reminder that us silly Americans have a time change coming on November 2nd. This won't affect this week but it will affect the other weeks. We roll our clocks back 1hr. So 3pm EDT becomes 2pm EST. 12pm PDT becomes 11am PST. This doesn't apply to Arizona who are currently the only sane folks who don't mess with time travel. Players from other countries please take note and prepare accordingly.

"From, Lookout Henry of the CakeWatch Fleet.

It started out as a simple supply run through the canyons. Food and water for Northern Pact families.
The mission was going swimmingly, the pick up was easy and we had made good time.

Out of nowhere- Ambush. A whole fleet of Fjordlanders- there was nothing we could do. They rapidly intercepted the supplies.
That's not the worst of it.

The scout squid we were on (after loading god knows what into our engines) escaped. Barely.
The other ships in our fleet were not so lucky. Melon, Fox and Replaceable didn't make it.
Boss says it'll be at least a week before we can attempt a rescue mission.
That's if they're still alive..

We were left no choice.
We stopped up in a port near Aschenfeld.
He was predictably easy to find, cosily rocking by the fire of a Moonshine Saloon.

Lord Fleet Admiral King Spud Nick of The North.

Eight thousand plus battles had withered his once youthful looks. We knew he'd be up to the task- he had to be..."

From the Journal of Beckett "Doc Tentacles" Hafgufa:

It's funny. I never though I'd be fighting for the Angleans again. Not after I signed on with the Mercantile Guild.

The company wants what the company wants, however, and war's worth a fortune. The Pact needs guns, ammo, and fuel-and Green Sun can provide for the right price.

So I guess I'm fighting for the League again.

Hell. Stranger things can happen.

I've got a fleet now. Ships, holds packed to the bursting, fat and heavy with fodder for the war machine, all in a line. Not just merchants. Escorts, too, bristling with weapons. We're a small company, but the boss has gambled a lot on this. And he's put me in charge. Me, Florivet, and whatever poor sods he managed to hire to protect us. I could have stolen it, gone pirate. Retired a rich man.

More hells.

Instead, I'm staring through my spyglass at an entire mercenary fleet. The Crimson Sky Marauders they call themselves. Mercenaries, traitors, and pirates. Scum, some might call them. They've been cursed up and down as the heroes of the last great war who turned traitor and joined the Coalition. I never much cared for politics. The point is, they're warriors. Real ones.

We're not soldiers, but we've fought battles, and we'll fight again today. This isn't our war, but we're in it, and we'll win. Or at least survive.

Or at least that's what I'm going to tell myself.

I gave my crew a chance to run. None of them took it it. Don't know if they're stupid, or smart enough to realize the desert's a slower death than the Marauders.

I should have stolen the caravan.

I hope there's room in the Marauder's heart for mercy.

Captain Beckett Hafgufa.

The fact that you have a image ready for that gives me all the justification I need for making that mistake.

Yes, I'm okay with mercenaries, traitors, pirates and scum but please, not Marauders for the love of god.

Letters from the Sands #1

Dear Ch---,

You would be pleased to know I finally got rid of that awkward looking tricorn hat. I am wearing the aviator cap with the white wings that you found in Paritus. It fits snug against my chin when done up properly, and smells faintly of roses.

We are here making preparations, and wanted to write you before time becomes scarce. I hope this letter finds you well.

In these circumstances, I should refrain from such a risky act. Any communique could be captured and used against us. But things have been troubling me since we parted almost too hastily.

Besides, the messenger delivering this is one of my most trusted agents. If the weather there right now is preventing his return, please see to it that he may stay and be fed until the sandstorms pass. He does not speak, and he might not be forward enough to ask for the hospitality. However, he does have a schedule to make, so if he refuses, it is because I require him by my side soon.

I am working with excellent crew. I trust unreservedly in their abilities, yet behind the seeming confidence, I worry about each and every one of them. I made no promises of what would become of us after all this is over, only that I would do all that I could.

Should I not return, even partly, in body or in mind. I would like you to know:

Even though we were boozed up like squid racing pit crew, I really did mean what I said that night in Nalm. Please forgive me for cutting the evening short. Normally I would endure any tongue-lashing from a Yeshan border guard, and I had no desire to be victim nor hero then. Besides, heading back out into the dunes was beautiful was it not? The night was so clear and bright. Remember those stars I pointed out to you, towards the South? Look for them again as often as you can for me. You will know why when you see it.

I am not sure how to close this. There is a fantastic coffee mechanist in Fallow that I must bring you to visit. Calmer times will return. Let us meet next for coffee then? I can hear the steam presses hissing all ready.

Yours faithfully,
R-----

Leto's a bit swamped atm but they will be coming. Chatted with him after Aero on them. The narrative script is more or less done so once I get the video it'll be compiled and posted. Maybe Sunday or Monday on that. Depends how fast Syco gets on it.

If you're talking about the past-broadcast section of Twitch, I had the same problem. The Aerodrome is titled "Heroes of the Storm" or something similar, you have to skip about an hour and a half into the video to get to the start of the Aerodrome broadcast.

To the Leaders of the Pact (and try to keep this away from Anglean hands if you can. The grease will smudge the ink),

I received a encoded message from the Flamefeld Minelayers leading pilots. They assure me that they are alive, but I was asked to join the Esteemed Spud Nick in flying the opening battle of the War. As I'm sure you have now heard, the endeavor was... less than Ideal. But we kept our Honor. We managed to scrape on a pilot from the legendary Old Duck team, and he fought as valiantly as I suspected.

But even with our best efforts, The SPQR team was organized. Deadly. I would have appreciated a fairer warning of their skills.

As I was on the path to exile myself for the failure, I ran into a group of traders. They claimed to be fighting for the Pact, and they presented me with a document so elegant that it could have only been composed by a fellow Yeshan.

I agreed to help, knowing this was my last chance to bring Honor back to my name.

The Menaces were defending some 'Baron' and we punished him for daring to take on a name of royalty. Glory to the Emperor.

However, after taking out the VIP, things turned south. My Hamartia struck again, and over-aggression led to the near defeat of my team.
Despite that, the VIP was destroyed, and a few more successful assaults were head on his escort party. This is all that matters.

I lay here, battered, beaten once, but then victorious. I can feel what may be my last breath coming; I hope for only two things:

One, that the rest of Yesha adapts to working with these Anglians better than I have. I was forced once again to work with one in the last battle, and I must say, she brought honor to the Great Pastryprise.

Two, that there may be something for me in the afterpiloting. I always scoffed at the tales of the Ones Who Spectate Over, apparently giving judgement over our every tactical action. Their ability to somehow have knowledge of both teams despite not being able to communicate with either. Some tales of 'banter' as two work together in harmony, covering all aspects of battle.
But as I pass this torch of piloting to my CakeWatch Brethren and Sisterhood, I hope the Great Casters find a place for me among their ranks.

To the Glory of the Empire,
and to Peace and Fire,

James T. Kirk.

Writings from the journal of Keiran, Florivet’s overworked engineer:

Well, the ship is in ruins.  Again.  Three guesses on who gets to fix him up!
My poor baby...oh, Florivet, what am I going to do if you're...

Fuck!

This is probably the stupidest thing the boss has ever assigned us for since we shipped that “fertilizer” out of The Order.  At least poor Florivet was in one piece after that.  The smell of corpses is better on a stable ship than on the sand.  Still, nothing to do now but fix the ships and bury the dead.

We’re alive, me and Faith and Rorin, even if we’re worse for wear.  Beckett’s off being, well, Beckett.  But that poor captain from the Cake ship...

Fucking Marauders.  Or is it Menace.  Muffins?  Screw it.

...I didn’t want to get messed up in the war.  I didn’t want to fight for the Yesha anymore than Doc does for the Angleans.  But a job is a job.

Fucking Beckett.  Bastard.  Can’t ever say no to the boss, even if it’ll kill us.

I’m sure one day it will.
