well, seems like there's been some issues with the matchmaking that we've put down for the tournament while I was asleep, so I'd like to clear things up.
1) first things first, conventional skill is only half the battle in this event. wins only grant a small advantage in points, which will easily be made up by a few bonus points, which is why we'll have judges. we will reward fun, humour, silly stuff and costumes. bonus points will (hopefully), make up slightly more than winning points, so I do suggest going crazy and having a laugh in this tourney, you might just get some extra goodies :3
2) the balancing. when I say balancing, it's not entirely about skill, seeing as I (having not even been in GOIO for like a month and a bit) have limited knowledge of competitiors. seeing alot of the fun of casual GOIO for many people is blowing up your mates, we tried to put mates vs. mates, so it often ended up with clan v clan matches as we assumed clan-mates would be buddies. this is to keep it familliar at the start of the event, seeing as later stages might be a bit ridiculous
. And I'd also like to say that this isn't elimination, each team gets to participate through the entire event if they want, even if they lose each week, and the sides will get switched around as much as possible. we have done what we can to stop the less experienced teams getting pwned but as that's subjective, we've not done too much there. anyway, by the end of the event we want every ship to have played with or against as many other teams as possible.
3) format. it's a 3v3 deathmatch, which makes it different to almost every other competetive game anyone has played. furthermore, half the weeks aren't even deathmatches. the random ship + loadout week is a thing remember
. it's all about doing the best and having fun with some possibly really sill combos. there's also the squid race ^^. we only have a conventional deathmatch at all as the first thing, because again, it's familliar. we don't want to put people out of their comfort zones in the first week, we want to save that for later ^^.
4) give us a break too. we're new to this tournament thing, we have an ambitious event planned and obviously, it's not going to be perfect. this is hopefully the first attempt and a format that we can improve upon. we're doing our best and it's all just meant to be for fun in the memory of a good, funny man. so please please please, just take it easy and have a fun time
I would like to say, address any problems in a calm, co-herent manner to me, so it can be discussed and cleared up simply and without any fuss, rather than on the forum in a big arguement
