Better controller support
« on: May 31, 2014, 08:09:45 pm »
Hey guys! New to the forums, but I've been playing GOI for a couple of weeks now. I really, really, really love the game!

Anyways, I've had this old Saitek racing wheel I'd picked up for a couple of dollars a year or so ago, and finally got around to wiring together the power supply for it. I bound the controls in-game, and jumped into training to test it out. I was disappointed to find out that steering is still a binary command, even with an analog controller.
What I mean by this is that it's either full on (either left or right) or dead center, no matter how little I turn the wheel. While pulsing the "a" or "d" key isn't a big deal, it tires your arms out with a steering wheel hehehehe.

I know this probably isn't a issue for many people, but I think it would add in another level of realism for the game which would up the enjoyment level for people like me.

Once again guys, kudos on the great game!

I know there are people that go all out with the Mech Warrior simulation cockpits, and also people who do the same for flight simulators... how awesome would it be to convert a racing wheel into a spoked ships wheel? And building a throttle assembly like the one in game would be easy.... Arrrggg mateys, arm ze cannons! hahah.  ;D
