When Joining Mid-Match

I know this has been suggested before, but it honestly deserves its own thread.

Every time a player joins a ship mid-match and replaces one of the AI, the AI disappears immediately. This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the 20-second or so loading time. That's 20 seconds where the crew is down one man. This makes enough of a difference to completely turn the tables in a match.

Please make it so that the AI stays until the player's done loading in.

That would be very nice indeed. Especially if said player is repeatedly crashing, leaving you with only two crew :/

Please make it so that the AI stays until the player's done loading in.

I would suggest even more: not until the player's done loading in, but when the player moves the mouse or press a key.

I like the Left 4 Dead approach where the AI controls a mid game join while the player spectates the AI until the player presses a button to take over. This will also prevent the mid game joiner from becoming active at a crucial moment (spanner away from death).

While you're at it, a spectate option to follow players would be cool.

Unless that already exists and I do not know the key-combo.
These two features seem very related.

Defaults to [ and ], use when viewing a ship.

Unless you meant some kind of spectate-while-playing thing...

Back on topic.  Yes please to the previous suggestions of leaving ai in control until the player loads.
