Kerosene vs Moonshine vs Phoenix Claw
JaceBoojah:
All the note at the top are based on the Pyramidian. I did some tests with the squid and moonshine bursts actually beat kerosine for a constant top speed.
on a different test here are my squid lap times on the dunes track
normal: 2:42
kerosene: 2:02
Moonshine + Claw: 2:03
I will find out the true tippy top possible speed of each ship based on one dunes map square for measurement
JaceBoojah:
I take back my theory that there is a max top speed. here are some test results from today.
this is the time it takes to cross one square on the dunes in seconds.
SHIP NORMAL KEROSENE MOONSHINE
Squid 22.4 14.9 15
Pyramidian 27.2 19.2 18.8
Goldfish 26.1 21.2 19.3
Galleon 33.9 23.9 22.1
Junker 38 24.7 23.5
Spire spire exploded the second i touched it
N/a N/A N/A
interesting that the goldfish is faster without pilots tools than pyramidian but pyramidian is faster with them than goldfish
Machiavelliest:
I use Moonshine exclusively over Kerosene because it almost instantly moves you from a dead stop to forward speed, and even works very well if you're in full reverse. It helps alleviate that annoying acceleration problem.
Squidslinger Gilder:
So there is obviously something wrong with the Squid there. Thanks for testing that. Wow, that just puts a huge nail in the Moonshine coffin.
Hmmm...I wonder if it is engine damage related. Perhaps Muse needs to redo it on the engines. The squid uses small engines for thrust. If the small engines are taking major speed hits sooner than they did in 1.1 then the advantage would go to the ships with large thrust engines which are not taking the speed hits as early.
But maybe it is all related to the redoing of the ship mass. It is like the Squid's engines are not strong enough to move the ship properly. For some reason the Junker is exempt from this hit in the turning and it should be the heavier ship.
Shame we can't do personal servers. Load one up with 1.1 and then get testing in that. I'm sure in 1.1 the Squid's time without tools would be between 10-15 and then sub 10 with tools.
