Occupations and Careers
« on: May 21, 2013, 08:11:28 am »
I don't think this particular topic has been started so I'll go for it.

What do you do? Are you a student? Do you have a job or career? If neither applies, what would you like to do?

Those who have played with me long enough know I am a law student. My hope is I can go into immigration and business law.

I'm currently finishing my civil service for a NGO that specializes in workers rights; once I'm done with that I'm aiming for getting a job as an accountant again and expand on my qualifications in that until I've got enough money put aside (and/or a job that allows it), to study translation.

Might sound like it's going to go fast, but with all the qualifications and courses you've got to rack up here in Austria to be considered for anything it's going to take a while still.. :P

So my official title is Tier1 Team Lead, Which means I manage 7 other support engineers who provide software support for our company. I consider this my job, as my career is first and foremost a father :)

Inactive USN SeaBee (But they keep calling me -.- )

Group Care Worker for Department of Youth Services, working in general population detention in a open door facility in a state forest with children with a variety of offenses.
I basically play dad to a bunch of gang bangers that really are just entertained by war stories all day long.  Or basketball, lots and lots of basketball.

I have a pretty sweet job. I'm a Guide Safety Technician for a local tour company up in Barrow, Alaska. Basically all I do is follow the tour van (via-four wheeler) when it heads out to 'the point' and I look out for Polar Bears. If I spot one (which is very hard, they blend in so damn well) I give off a warning shot which spooks them to run off most of the time.

On my off time I do freelance Network Technician work. I would really like to get into this more.
