Cogs Tipping Competition Week 7
« on: May 01, 2013, 10:03:00 pm »
Welcome to week Seven punters. We're drawing close to the end. We finally get to see what the Dutchman's team can do, and we know Pasta won't make it easy for them. Polaris gets a chance to redeem themselves on Duel at Dawn but Black Flight Squadron stand in their way. And Merry Northern Storm get the final chance to dethrone the Ducks. Gonna be a good week.

Post your tips in the thread. You gain 1 point for each correct tip. You gain .1 every time you correctly tip Match 3's score. At the end of the season the person with the most points wins! Also keep an eye out on the Cogs live stream where you'll see all the statistics drawn from you! If this is your first time, there'll be plenty of chance to catch up with the Cogs Tourney being added to the spread. More to come on that soon...

Tipping posts MUST be set out as follows:

Match 1: [Team]
Match 2: [Team]
Match 3: [Team] [Score]

[Any and all comments should be here.]

The score for match 3 is mandatory as a tiebreaker. Scores for match 1 and 2 are optional. You may opt out of tipping any matches for any reason. I will not edit your picks so think before you press that Post button.

Submissions close Friday 4pm EST. That's 24 hours before Cogs begins.

Time to get tipping! Who will your pick be?

The Pastafarians vs The Whalers
Battle on the Dunes
Polaris Company vs Black Flight Squadron
Duel at Dawn
The Paddling vs Merry Northern Storm
Canyon Ambush

Match 1: Pastafarians 5-4
Match 2: Polaris Company 5-3 Sorry black flight, but I fly with/against Polaris pretty regularly...
Match 3: I cannot say, as it's my team going up against the Paddling

Match 1: The Whalers
Match 2: Polaris Company
Match 3: Merry Northern Storm 5-4

Match 1: The Pastafarians haven't really been the same since Zwaene left. That, and The Whalers have multiple very strong players on their team.
Match 2: The guys from BFS are incredibly good, but I see the Russians edging them out on this one. Now with the Spire being a seriously powerful ship, it's easy to imagine what Polaris are capable of.
Match 3: It's a week of change with the new build finally released. It's exactly the kind of shake-up that could knock The Paddling off their throne. I know that Zill really wants that win a lot, and it's not unrealistic to think his team can do it.

Note: I've predicted every match correctly so far, and every final score for Match 3. That doesn't bode well for The Paddling :D

Match 1: Pasta 5:1
Match 2: Polaris 5:4
Match 3: Paddling 5:2

Notes:
Match 1: Zwaene is back baby (He never "left" was just away on holiday or something), pasta are good at range, and its dunes, what can I say, I almost tipped 5:0, but it depends on which side of the map each team gets, and the spawns have been a bit weird, so I think the whalers might be able to push close and knock a pasta out.

Match 2: This is a hard one, both sides have seen their builds shaken up by 1.2, both sides are good teams, I had the most trouble picking this one to be honest. I can see it being a real seat of the pants match, being to close to call until the last moment. can't wait!

Match 3: How close this match is, will really come down to what Zill and MNS decide to run, they have run some "weird" builds (All carronade galleon anyone?), he might find a sweet spot in the new meta, or it might be another quack attack, but I still see the paddling winning this one (I will admit to being motherducking biased, quack, etc though :P)

General:

I can see this week being the rise of the junker somewhat, with maybe quite a few teams fielding them in place of Pyra. We may even see MOAR SPIRES, though considering how squishy they still are, who knows.

OP weapon of the weak: The Artemis! Woo

PS: Screw Sunderland ;) (Wheres your mic mate? Huh? Huh?!)

Match 1: It will be close, but I think that The Pastafarians will win this game.
Match 2: Two good teams, but I think that Polaris Company will take it, 5-4
Match 3: This will be the most interesting game I feel, and it should be. Score... 5-3 the way of Paddling though.

Just a friendly reminder that...

Tipping closes Friday 4pm EST. 24 hours before Cogs.

This is the last "Cogs" formula week that the tipping comp will be running. In the coming weeks we will be tipping on a potentially much more unpredictable tourney! So get your tips in quickly. Tell your friends. Get their cheap lazy butts on here and TIP!

*NOTE: Linen Murakami does not think your friends are cheap and lazy...

As long as they post their tips.

Match 1: Pastas 5-2
Match 2: Not betting on my own match
Match 3: MNS 5-4

The Whalers have had a lot of time to prepare and they have some good individual players. I'm sure they've drilled some good teamwork into them by now. However, the pastas seem to have re-organized and look ready to bring their long range skills to bear on the wide open dunes. I think with the new patch MNS can use their innovation to find a clever way to win, but The Paddling won't go down easy.

We know what a deadly team Polaris are. What with us being the underdogs tipping-wise against a team reputed for being a Russian powerhouse, I've been watching this video to get pysched up for the match!

Tipping is closed. Watch the stream.

Will this be the week one of the leaders will be booted? Yes! But lets see who.
