The Lobbies of Icarus.
« on: May 07, 2016, 12:21:32 pm »
Waiting all day for a team in a lobby is part of the GOI experience.
Some of us might not like it and scream "ready up" but of course, we simply add time to shut them up.
It's at this time half the fun begins. Conversing with others.
And sometimes these conversations are quite memorable for...a number of reasons.

For example...last night I had a nice conversation about Hentai and visual novels with some random people. My clan mates were disgusted, but they already knew this much about me :p

Now I'm not saying you should do the same thing, but what's a memorable conversation you have had in lobbies of Icarus?

And...What's the BEST way to start a conversation in lobbies of Icarus?

Most people have either a lack of creativity or are so curios that they just have to know and ask "Where are you guys from?". That usually gets a bunch of people to converse with each other.

You can also always start a series of terrible jokes. When you are playing with random people that don't understand communication, then this will usually get them to either leave or develop respect for you, so they listen to you in-game. Oh and yeah, conversations can develop around those jokes too.

Silly music.
One of my friends in-game always put the "What shall we do with the drunk enough sailor?" song every time we enter a lobby and voice-chats so that everybody may hear it. Usually this makes easier for other people to start joking around. Jokes and puns are what also helps the most to break the ice and begin conversations. And since almost every player in the community knows decently english, there is rarely the issue that you are not understood.

Addendum: Never make a bard hear music, lest you want a music duel to ensue.

I'm interested to hear a bard music duel.

Too bad I rarely find them.
Each one is like a siren from ancient mythologies. You hear their songs as a lure, and when you find them, you die.

Damn you Mann. Your clan is DANGEROUS.

That's JUST as scary.

Like trying to ram a galleon to death in a squid.

I remember the times, when in lobby, I was putting a flashlight on 'X' button, taking my bass and playing - totally not in time - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden.

Now my keyboard is fucked, and I can't pull it off anymore. Oh well.

Talk about food and local food specialties. Living in San Diego I have access to Carne Asada Fries.

The amount of cholesterol in one order of Carne Asada Fries might kill you but most consider it worth the risk.
