Applause Notice

Hola,
So I have 40 hours into this game now, mostly as Captain. And yesterday I had an 'Applause Notice' pop up. 'You have been applauded for your Leadership' it says, and I'm in the running for a free item. Winners will be announced on social media etc..

First off, that's a cool feature and I have to admit I'm a little flattered. Secondly though, I looked on Facebook, Twitter and gunsoficarus.com for previous announcements of the winners but I found nothing.

So my question, is this a new feature, or is it an old thing that's redundant now? I kind of feel if the winners are no longer announced weekly maybe the message copy could be tweaked. Just curious!
