Fantasy GOIO
« on: October 22, 2015, 05:12:54 pm »
Like Fantasy Football (or whatever), but in GOIO using actual players. Draft your perfect crew and team. See who comes out on top. Would have to have access to Muse's data, of course.

Viable? Fun? Pointless (well, yes)? Something to pass the time in long queues and lobbies, or in the middle of sniping matches?

Anyways, just a random thing that jumped in my head for no damn reason (I actually can't stand football and think fantasy football is silly as hell).

Maybe an idea for the next competitive event? Or for the SCS guys to consider - I would make a fantasy team!

Hmmm... would it boost interest in comp events? I never thought of that as a side effect. I guess it has for football.

tipping thread is quite a dead thing because all the people who tip are playing, and few people like tipping their own games. However fantasy drafts could be quite the alternative. But how would various roles garner points individually. As it stands my fantasy draft would just be all Rydr for the best chance of winning if it is solely controlled by wins/losses.

If I understand fantasy games, scoring (winning games) counts less than player performance. So, if you had players on your crew that did well in a match, but the team did badly overall, you would get a lot of points.

Things to consider would be a lot of the stuff tracked by achievements. Range of attack (more points for hitting at max weapon range), time taken to repair armor, player level ratios (more points for doing well against higher level/MMR whatever), etc.

So, picking an all ryder crew may not be the highest scoring option.

I don't think you get to just pick crew. I think you take draft turns on picking players, and each player can only be used once. I am not sure how ships and loadouts would come into play.

Hmm, maybe ship loadouts could be restricted to popular builds to make it easier, as for how the ships.and builds fit into it, that's got me stumped for now too...

Muse keeps data on every single gun and ship, sooooooooooooooo I guess they could be counted like players with their overall stats. It would take quite the codemonkey to gather and assemble all this data into a cohesive Fantasy GOIO game.

Damn shame Queso is not interning right now...

We'll have to put it on our Christmas list and send it to Eric
