Or perhaps restricted guns?

The harpoon's pretty quiet; I think it's powered by either compressed gas or springs.

And the flaregun could be used to create diversions. And disco parties.

This would make for a good co-op or even single ship game, with NP killer ships looking for you with search lights. Could add a new tool called 'Dampers', pilot or engie, to try to keep your ships quiet, as well as silenced rounds for the gunner.

Sir, you are being hunted, by airships. :)

Silenced rounds would need reduced damage and projectile speed.  Maybe less ammo.

Night mode map sounds great.  It would promote more close quarter and hit and run tactics as opposed to sniping.

Hit and run, great.

CQC, not so much.

Sniping used to be meta, but Eric is terrified of strong long range guns for some reason.

Because it is boring as hell. I soundly support non-sniping-meta-game.

ok this has gotten to a really dumb direction.

we have night stages. None of them have 0 visibility.

and you cant get any darker than the dead of night in the far north.

That's not the idea though.
The idea is to literally create stages where you can't see the enemy unless you illuminate them, like with the old searchlight.
And if you don't see why this is appealing then I don't know what to say.

and thus removing the whole talking point of this being a viable thing for muse to consider.

as the one selling point was how simple it apparently is to change  a stage to night and day mode by messing with lighting, and switching out sky boxes.

Now you're asking for a huge overhaul and an outright game mode (coop took like 2 years!)

We have no night maps. If you would listen to the fireside chats, you would know this. The 'darker' maps we have are just very overcast. Being from the north myself, I can vouch for the look. If it was night, with that amount of cloud cover, in the far north, it would be pitch black.

Aye, and you can also see light on the horizon. But not the sun.

Which means the sun is out, but there's clouds. So Richard LeMoon is correct.

Not sure what you're saying. What's so impossible with just making a no-see map in a beta phase, adding on search lights, and letting the players decide what tweaks needs to be made?
And yus. I am asking for a new game mode =) One that would be popular, as it seems.
