I don't' know what the nerd name for it is. I do know the devs thought "let's make a dumb gimmick cannon that causes spin"

and then really badly implemented it. Worthless against almost all the ships, hard counter against 1 of them.

If you can't figure out which gun I'm talking about just from the above sentence and the word "spin" you definitely aren't good enough to address my question.

I have more games ad a competitive pilot/engineer than you likely have in total, so if you would like an informed answer, I'll gladly give you one, but I don't appreciate random hostility

Well congrats it sounds like you've played a lot of games poorly and I've played a few games a lot better than you'll ever play. You came in here and gave a effortless smart ass response and you looked silly for it.

If you actually had any real knowledge you would have answered my question by now

*Grabs Logic's arms.*

Logic, if you'll excuse me for this temporary assumption of power...

Hatstand, I advise you to *cough* stand down, and give us a straight answer.

Unless you're trolling, in which case this belongs in the Pit.

If not, I'd love to give you some rather helpful advice. I can think of three strategies to help with your problem. However, if you don't simmer down, I can't help you.

If you have a look at DJ Logicalia's name, then move your eyes down a bit, you'll see the words "Community Ambassador" in bright yellow text. This means that Logic is a volunteer that helps out in the community, and that it's generally a good idea to listen to what he has to say.

tl;dr Be nice.

yea I looked at it. It's called the minotaur. It can shoot across the entire map and with lesmok rounds it goes 600m/s (not that 350 wouldn't be easy to hit).

The galleon has to slowly set up broadsides. It seems that any other ship with the minotaur can easily turn off the galleon.

Using kerosene or moonshine reduces spin. The reload is a substantial 9 seconds. Use phoenix claw to turn faster.

Strategy 1:

Using kerosene or moonshine reduces spin. The reload is a substantial 9 seconds.

Strategy 2:

Use Phoenix Claw (pilot tool, looks like a chicken foot) to spin the ship back.

EDIT: Oop, nope, BlackenedPies edited his post to say that too.

Strategy 3:

Put a Mercury Field Gun (sniper rifle) on the port side light gun mount and snipe out the Minotaur before it can spin you around.

"Spin Cannon"

Sounds like something from Dragon Ball.

It's a pretty easy gun to out range after the last patch but for sure broadside ships like the galleon and junker feel the spin more then most ships as the spin increases when shots connect further away from a ships center of gravity. Not only does kerosene and moonshine reduce spin but charging with those tools should force them to hit your front rather then your sides resulting in even less spin. Galleon is a heavy ship and fast once it gets rolling so if you have to opening up with a ram isn't terrible. Just make sure you aren't leaving your ally behind to fight a 2v1 because you're getting frustrated

I'm confused as to what ship has the minotaur that you are facing in a galleon, other than another galleon.

A minotaur on a fish is relatively weak, just persist through it and broadside them with some hwachas. One on a spire might be more troublesome, but same deal. TBH the only trouble I've had with a minotaur is on a junker vs. a hwacha/taur galleon broadside. Definitely need more information about the situation to help with strategies.
