Boarder (Fully aware no boarding but read)
« on: May 24, 2015, 08:16:32 pm »
Now I've read all the reasons why no boarding. It came down to one problem which is INSANELY easy to fix.

Gameplay? Dark souls 2 look at the melee combat in dark souls 2. You dont need combos. You don't need incredibly spells or abilities. You have block, roll and swing your sword. It comes down to TIMING and its VERY fun. If a person is in swing they can not block. If a person is hit from behind they can not block. This then comes down to skill. Easy to implement.

Getting onto the ship will just be jumping on it from above or to the side. Add grappel hook abilities. Add new class called warrior if you so choose. Increase crew to 5 people. This adds in a whole new area for the game to expand into.

Please don't just delete this or down vote it give legit reasons why this would or would not work please.

There is another reason they won't implement it. GOIO is a team based game. Boarding would make more like single player. Also to introduce the mechanic would create a bigger up upheaval then stamina did.

Specualtion ahead

I suspect it wouldn't work because of how movement in the game is programmed, all player movement is anchored to their own ship as a reference point, and adding in an additional ship would be a ton of effort to calculate the additional reference and work out how it influences movement and transitioning from one ship to the other.

It would be a ton of effort, complete re-write of movement system, and would only make it more banal. Cmon guys if you want to whack dudes in the face there are other games like chivalry. What makes goio unique is flying in airships and shooting mounted guns, boarding wouldnt do anything other games don't.

Did you even read all the reasons why? How the game would have to be rebuilt from the ground up/etc? I'm not even gonna say more than that...this thread is just another...

/facepalm

Boarding will never be included for numerous reasons.

The feedback section is not for discussing boarding.

The ships are moving over 100mph most of the time. They rarely stop. If you leave your ship, it will die. This is like asking for someone to include barroom brawls midrace in a Nascar game.

Edit: here is a challenge. Go into practice with a ship and try to jump on ANY bit of geometry outside your ship. Then rethink your proposal of insanely easy fixes.

You havent read the crucial reasons wich have been stated here also.

No boarding. Atleast no PVP based boarding. Maybe something in adventure mode but Co-op allready gives a heck ton to do with your crew as a ship. I only guess that anything to do with boarding is a no go because theres just soo much to do outside of it anyway.
