Engineering on the Squid (and to a lesser extent, the Goldfish) would be essentially impossible.

The ability to add a ramming spike to any ship. (Probably wouldn't break the game, but it's a cool idea that I'm sure lots of people would hate.)

The coward's goldfish:
A ship with two side facing light guns and one rear facing medium gun. Comparably speed and maneuverability to a goldfish but is more effective running away from a fight than running towards one. Good for newbie captains who spend half the game flying away from the battle, and advanced captains who want to tar someone while shooting them with a Mantacore.

Noobcannon/Trollcannon...captain controlled. Load TNT strapped noobs/trolls and fire them at enemy ships. The resulting explosion kills the ship instantly and also kicks the noob/troll out of the game.

An expandable plank on each ship that allows the captain to throw noob/trolls overboard... Or just to jump off of for fun.

Ok... Maybe it wasn't doubled... But it certainly got a massive increase.
I mean, really. That'd be pretty scary.
