It would lead to some interesting strategies where the engineers don't take fire suppression and trust the captain to take care of it. I just worry about a ship that is perma-buffed with a gunner and two spanner/mallet engineers being a bit OP.
yeah the reason I thought this would be a neat tool is because I figured it could take the responsibility for fire control away from on of the engineers and put it on the pilot. If both engineers dropped their fire fighting tools I feel the ship with this would be very vulnerable to a flamer thrower as it offers no immunity time. But one engineer could run the spanner mallet buff kit which is pretty useful for the cost of a pilot tool.
Also I just realized how frustrating a tool like this could be if the captain misuses it since it would be putting components on a cooldown, which will disrupt engineers repair cycles. It would be niffty for a crew that knows how to work together but if the captain doesn't have any situation awareness he could royally screw over his engineers and his ship.
