Suggestion: A way to make your location known to the enemy.
« on: August 21, 2014, 02:55:30 pm »
I suggest adding some sort of foghorn, to make it easier for the enemy to find you when circling around the canyon or destroyed city gets too boring.

You could also use this to beep at people when you are about to ram them.

Thoughts?

You can always use the Maps Grids to tell where you are.

Horn before a ram seems unnecesary.

I remember someone suggesting giving impact sounds to more weapons, this would satisfy the warning.
Other than that, i could be fun to have, but it really is not important.

Couldn't you just fire some flares?

People should always fire more flares.

If a stand off goes too long the crew usually plays Marco Polo in global chat. I am not saying the horn would be a bad idea, but I suspect it could be abused by trollish players. Hearing a La Cucaracha horn as a pyramidion emerges from the clouds and rams your ally into the wall would be awesome. Hearing a La Cucaracha horn over and over again for a 20 minute match because your captain has the maturity of an eight year old and likes the attention would be not so awesome.

Open minimap.

Put location in chat.

Don't move.

Suggestion solved.

HA.  now I want it.  just because it's a La Cucaracha horn announcing my arrival.  forget the foghorn.

no, not really, I do see the abuse and that would suck.  but having a theme song barreling into a match would be amazing and you get a salute sir, just for that awesome image.

On the other hand look at all the situations that are NOT abused (most of the times), for instance captain jumping to spectator slot and back, or spectators themselves - they can see everything including ship positions AND use chat but no one sees any abuse. Weird. Maybe our community is mostly good with single troll exceptions (not the other way).

Also - you can set a limit of using horn (just as there is a limit of using the V-commands).

Sometimes if I am in spectate I will ask the players if they want to use "ramjams rules" which means once per match each captain can request to the location of the enemy ships and I will type out the map squares that their opponents are in.

That actually sounds like a valid idea, especially for Canyons and Paritian. Misa likes.
