The winds that howl trough the ambush-filled canyons north of Yesha product numerous sounds, one of these sounds remembers one of a whale. Since stories about Skywhales have been going around forever, some speculated that some whale-like sounds are actually emitted by Skywhales. As they echo triugh the canyons, they assume a lament-like sound.
Thus the so called ''Skywhale's Lament'' was born.

The militaristic culture of the Baronies has prioritized ship and munition production over all other facets of the economy including food and medical needs. As a result the only thing a Baron of the Fjords can be generous with is bullets and ships. The expression "As generous as a Baron" has come to mean throwing ships and bullets at a problem that would normally be solved with food and medicine.

A not well specified and understood economic maneuver used by the Guild merchants to make every job offered by the Guild appear more appealing, even in the case that they would mean an almost certain death.

A particularly violent ram, often performed at the start of an engagement in order to force crews to stumble, or even fall off the ship. Unwary traders are often greeted in dangerous areas by a raider Anvalan kiss.

A species of horse native to the isle of Chaladon.

It's twice the height of a conventional horse and has two hearts and 2 sets of lungs - necessary to survive and prosper in the rich vegetation and acidically fertilised fields.

A violent, out of place, tactically unsound and dangerous en masse ramming attack.
Having a very knightlike behaviour sometimes, some airship battlegroups from the Baronies form up and charge the enemy lines like they were on the ground on horseback.
While it may function against outflanked enemies, resulting in a devastating advantage for the Baronite fleets, it may also result in a disastrous high amount of losses in case the enemy had a clear line of fire on the charging vessels.
This also led to the heavy armoured prows on many mass produced Baronite vessels like the Crusader.

Infamous for his tactical genius, one of his more memorable, and yet tame exploits was the careful arrangement of over 50 Galleons to look like a Baronies castle, only for the invading raiders to find out that the fat, juicy target in front of them was in fact a trap made of pain and high explosive rockets.  Good friends with Governor General Vance "Motherfucking" Stubbs.

A flying fortress, having a strong resemblance to a whale.
It's the actual residence of the cultists of Lord Dick Tim, the One that looks for the Skywhales.
It has a ridiculous ammount of firepower, and actually has a headfigure made of whale bones.

Governor General Vance "Motherfucking" Stubbs is an Anglean general that doubles as the Governor/Mayor of a small, but elite town of highly trained soldiers called "Guardsmen".  Reknowned for taking towns from other factions, implementing new laws that benefit the populace, and moving on.  Once lost 100 huge artillery platform airships.  They were, according to his secretary, "misplaced" during transport.  Infamous for this event, leading to people to comment that compared to the TACTICAL GENIUS (tactikal jinyas) of Creed, he is tactically inept.

He then usually shoves an artillery Galleon down the throat of whoever said it in front of him.

Got his nickname from rumours of entire town's worth of women throwing themselves at him, but due to his preference for older women, usually chose the mother of the previous mayor.

Overall, a true man's man.

Apollo was the name of a deity of sunlight of the Old World, and coincidentally it was also the name of the madman that invented the homonymous Lens Array.
The Apollo's Gaze was how people referred to a full barrage of that weapon, which prototype also had a ridiculously long range, effectively demolishing anything within the captain's sight.
For a while after its invention Captain Apollo travelled trough the lands as a mercenary, and he was also a heavy target of Guild bounty hunters, as his weapon was truly devastating and perfectly functional.
Upon retirement, he sold the blueprints of the gun to the a Guild general, that then spread the usage of the weapon throughout the regular army.
Fun fact: when drunk, once, after seeing an Anglean heavy tank being shipped trough the air-harbour, he yelled with a hilarious voice "IT IS THE BANEBLADE!"
His crew joked about that forever after.

A Gungnir is an Elite crewman of an Anglean persuasion.  Both a highly skilled gunner and engineer, they are equipped with three ammo types and engineering tools.  Due to Anglea's low population, many airmen have had to double down and become a Gungnir.

''How did the negotiations go?''
''We ended up showing them some of ye old Anglean diplomacy.''
''... How many dead then?''
''Almost a dozen on both sides.''
Being the Angleans very direct and not masters of diplomacy, the so called Anglean Diplomacy is a worldwide-know and used joke about events when groups of people end up discussing by shooting each other. The first event of Anglean diplomacy happened when the embassies of Anglea and the Baronies met each and pissed off each other and only started discussing humanely after almost every memeber of both armed escorts had been killed in a firefight.

The Cadian Conga refers to this special elite troops waiting in line to receive their equipment. Further the line they go, the amount of supplies on them clank with each step they take to the next station. With the amount of noise being generated, they joke at it being some form of background music and in line for a conga.

"The Angel" is a peculiar mountain in the middle of the sea between the Baronies and the Order, it is characterised by having a nigh-symmetrical shape, making it look like a head with two wings.
Its shape have always made it a very famous guarding and resting point, where both sea sailors and air sailors alike would rest for a while during their journeys across the sea.
This all changed as an unidentified man overnight killed every person present there at the moment.
Leaving no survivors, nobody knew that this madman now had control of the Angel.
More and more vessels that went to the Angel started to disappear.
People started to talk about a demon, that would fly out of the Angel's head and prey upon the living around there.
Hearing about this oxymoronic name, and also that that trading route was compromised, patrols started to investigate, both the Baronies and the Order lost at least one patrol team to the Demon.
Then a voluntary kill-team Baronies-Order joint operation went there and engaged the Demon.
Thanks to their smart commander, they managed to down the Demon while suffering almost no losses.
But still people tell the stories about a shadowy figure, that every full moon comes from behind the Angel's Head and hovers over the resting crews, only to disappear with the sound of a heavy flak shot.
