Describing GOI
« on: March 12, 2013, 04:02:52 am »
I was talking to a friend who doesn't play video games about GOI and this how I explained it:

When I have a good crew I feel like Russell Crow in "Master and Commander."
When I have a bad crew I feel like Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Kindergartener Cop."

Just wanted to share that.

Try being a captain in Space Station 13.  It's like Kindergarten Cop, except the kindergarteners are all psychopathic, retarded murderers that you must direct in literally not shitting themselves to death.

I usually use this pitch:

"Ever wanted to fly around on a WAR ZEPPELIN powered by STEAM and RAGE? Of course you have. Buy this game."

Nice descriptions Charon and Shukketsushi If the engines in this game could be fueled by rage I would never need moonshine again.

I describe it rather dryly.

"It is one of the only games with communication, cooperation, and coordination."

"it's like this game where your in a- a- an airship and- wait, its like set in the future but not in the- wait, like, wait, its like after a big fake war, not like a fake war, but, like, a war in fake world, where lots of dust appeared and people have airships and, like, uh- like- they shoot at each other and there's the Fjords and- you can level up but not like 'level up' its all tactics and skill and- uh, its really fun, like, you need to work with your team and thats like the best part, yeah so like, its really fun- and-"

"What the hell is a Fjord?"

"look, just get the game! Have I ever recommended a bad game to you?"

     "Who are you again?"

I get cought up in my excitement for the game  :P

When everything goes perfect: "I understand why villains always have a sinister laugh in movies. There is nothing more fun than your foes crying out in terror as mines rain in."

When it doesn't go right: "I imagine there is a rampaging bear after my ally and me and my ally is the pudgy fat kid covered in candy who you really want to save but as the bear closes you instinctively swing your foot in front of his. I then run off with fingers in my ears singing a nice upbeat tune to cover the screams."

It's a game that reminds us why gaming culture is elitist by nature.

Associate with the scrubs and you will be dragged to their level of play.

The game you hate because the not so usefull matchmaking system and forced quit feature after 3 matches.
The game you hate because of all the new people who don't listen and don't even attempt communicating with you.
The game you hate because of all the people discouraging you, telling you that you are shit.
The game you hate because of the new changes and overpowered fire damage.

The game you love, because it has everything else.

"GoIO is just like DotA 2, lots of waiting, lots of communication, most of it consisting of yelling and swearing, but in the end, you realize how fun it is to yell and get yelled at.Commendation to the entire team!"
"GoIO is just like DotA 2, except with less russians, and more people with awesome-racist accents"
"GoIO is like a hi-tech tank, useless and prone to implosion with a new crew."
"Best way to get frustrated quickly? Join a public match, alone."
"Why are you so mad?", "OH I WONDER", "Play some Audiosurf then", "What do you think I've been doing for the past 3 hours?"
GoIO is the game where, you tell your crew to bring chemspray against an all fire pyramidion, and they only use the chemspray when there are 10+ stacks of fire on everything. I cry everytim.
GoIO sounds like "GO YO" when you and your crew get in a match against all level 45s. "Dwarph, you distract them while I run away"-Jawjee 2015
"DISTRACTION"-Dwarph 2015.

All in all, this game changed a lot, YET, MY DOUBLE MORTARS STILL WORK, HAHAHA!

Guns of Icarus is like a safe... When you first look at it, its big ugly and a tonne of trash (novice lobbies ;) ) but once you crack the lock and get inside its full of treasures!

Guns of Icarus
-You fly a steampunk battleship with the crew of a Tank.
-You don't have to work with others but you are most effective when working together.
-You don't have to talk to others but you are most efficient when others know how stupid you're being.
-A game where being a troll gets boring really quick
-Unique game attracting unique people that will impact your life whether you hate them or love them.
-A game with high knowledge barriers but low beginning skill barriers
-Plenty of fun self-challenges when you get bored
-Filled with tons of unique ship load out/build customization
-Combines fast reflexes and quick thinking in tense situations
-Brings out the worst and best in people
-A really cheap game on steam sales!
