spyglass zoom scroll
« on: October 24, 2013, 05:10:30 am »
G'day everyone,

I just thought I'd bring something to your attention. Did you know you can actually scroll the zoom when using a spyglass. All you have to do is scroll up on the mousewheel when looking through the spyglass and you can zoom in. This helps when spotting ships in difficult locations like clouds.

Have fun with this new trick.

I thought this was common knowledge. I've been using this since when I started playing.

So have I, but I've had countless people aboard my ship come to the sudden realization.

Some were level 2, some were level 7.

It's a highly useful function, and I'm not sure how I would fare without it. How else am I going to ogle that curvaceous engineer from across- I mean identify enemy ship silhouettes through dense cloud cover, or locate vital components and weaponry on enemy ships so I know what to disable? Awareness for this function of the spyglass definitely needs to be raised.

Didn't Sunderland have this revelation not to long ago? It surprised me how many of the older folks just didn't know

yeah and also you don't need to look through it either to spot. When moving about a lot i find it hard to zoom in with, but still learning so...

When I'm in 3rd person, I usually have problems spotting unless I zoom. Not sure if it's just due to the  lack of the targeting dot, or if it actually doesn't work.

I found it by accident when I first started when trying to switch tools while still using the spyglass.

It was such a simple mechanic and an easy mistake to make, I assumed everyone knew about it.

That's why it was so funny when Sunderland finally found out. :D

That would have been in February or March... So actually longer ago than people make it sound, but yeah, it still took me four or five months to find it.

I have known about it for a while, but usually don't use it unless my captain asks for information on the enemy ship's weapons loadout. I certainly don't use it to check out Zuka's posterior while flying, that would lead to unnecessary deistrac-Oh crap where did that mountain come from?

So I've known about this, but I had a "Oh my gosh did you see that" moment a few weeks ago... Someone got in front of my helm on a pyra and brought out their spyglass, and then zoomed in. If you look at the end of the spyglass, there are actually 3 lenses, and if you zoom in, you can see the 3 lenses rotate! Such a simple addition but it was enough for me to be floored!
