Trifecta fire
« on: September 11, 2013, 04:24:23 pm »
So what are your opinions on different junker trifecta load outs?  I personally run with gat and flak on the sides and an artemis on the front.  Would love to here some other ideas though!

I sometimes run left side mec, merc, right side gat mortar, front flare. The flare can trifecta with mercs and is useful for spotting targets trying to take cover in clouds/ behing tar.

I ran a 3x artimis build yesterday, and while it is great for long range harass it lacks the killing power to be useful when you need to make a kill solo.

Trying to do a Gat-Flak-flak Trifecta.

Or a flak-flak-gat trifecta.

Haven't flown junker well enough to try it, but my logic is to use the gat to take out hull (duh), then swing the ship to get the two flaks to demolish the ship in one pass.

Getting a quicker armour strip is more important than getting a quicker hull kill, since a mortar already achieves that on its own pretty easily. Gat-gat-mortar can yield some impressive results.

Two artemis and a banshee works very well as a trifecta and is very easy to keep going due to the turning arcs and the disabling power.

Hmm... how about gat, flak on side, then gat up front?  Would the gats firing lines overlap?  And I know mortar is the new killer, but I still like to take the flaks turn rate.  Or does it not make too terrible of a difference?

What about 2 Artemis'  (Artemi?) and a gat up front.  Or Art, gat, art up front.  Might not kill as quick, but also has some disabling power.

Thanks for the input guys, i'll have to try them all out.  Hamster: A well aimed flare could devastate balloons or hull, good idea.  And Sunderland, I like the double gat idea, would the mortars firing line intersect with the sides guns?  I feel like it might, but it would be tricky.  Im guessing just gat and swing hard when hulls go down is the basic idea?

All this aside I really like my gat, flak, art.  My engies can keep almost continues trifecta fire going, best defense is a good offense right?  :P

Triple Banshees is one of the more fun trifectas I've seen. Comments in the match feed were along the lines of "OH MY GOD THE FIRE"

Two artemis and a banshee works very well as a trifecta and is very easy to keep going due to the turning arcs and the disabling power.

I can vouch for that. Was an enjoyable ship to be flying on  :D

I enjoy merc/artemis/heavy flak on a Spire.

Oh, and how could I forget banshee/phobos/carronade on a Junker <3

If pyras were a bit more maneuverable I would love to fly the double front gat, light side flack build again. Hull engineers get so little gun time giving them the kill shot feels good.

Well now that you can shoot through the ropes, lining up pyra trifectas are way easier.

Also not to start any unnecessary rumors, but there is a chance that a certain unnamed and underutilized explosive weapon with a big turning arc will be buffed.  This may or may not happen but it could help with that as well.

Bah, it was a mark of skill back in the day to position a Pyra so that your right side gat could still shoot through the ropes, while your left side gun was just in arc. I feel old now.

Munkers are fun (not a typo).

Trifecta can be good, but what is important is the overall battle, how you are positioned, how the enemy is positioned and how this is going to play out. Therefore there are still certian tactical issues you need to consider for positioning three guns on a ship, such as the position of the other enemy ship and what they may exactly do to your ship.

Edit: added detail.

On a spire Merc/gat/Heavy flak which is pure glass cannon build.   While close range Flak/gat/Hwacha. Sort of glass cannon, im allowed to jump out of helm and shoot the flak when their hull is down which is fun.

JUnker, three phobos. you don't need to be able to hit the ship, just fire ALL around it lol
