Sneaky night map thought?
« on: June 26, 2013, 02:46:42 pm »
Not sure if this has been posted before, but a night map would make for some awesome firefights. The addition of a star-shell style ammo for flak guns, or just lesmok flares, on a big open map like Dunes would be really neat (and would play into my long-term goal of a short film setting a silent film to the music of Holst's Mars from The Planets Suite  :P).

Anything that encourages ambushing and sneaky tactics is fine and supported by me ^^

I would love to have night maps.  Seems like they would be a lot of fun.

Very dark, with storm clouds over a barren landscape only interrupted by the occasional ship debris. The best source of natural light will be the new lightning Muse wants to add.

Yes.

I feel that Canyon would be even more fun for ambushes if it was at night.

Imagine if it were so dark on a map, you had to use flares to see anything.

And you couldn't see your ally on the map, and spotting wouldn't work on that map.
You'd have to do it the old-fashioned way and those letter-number grid points would actually be useful.

I've got it! Glow-in-the-dark ammo for paintball guns as a new weapon!

Or, if nothing else, lighting other ships on fire would be useful since you could see them :)

You know, Dunes might be an amazing candidate for a night time map, just as it is already.

So this would be a kinda hardcore map.

1) Allies do not appear on Map.
2) Spotting is off.
3) Damage log would be off as well, only showing kills.

This would confuse the hell outta newbies.

"Uhh... My spyglass isn't working."

"You bet your default costume it isn't! Now go make yourself useful; get on that flamer and spot 'em the old fashioned way!"
