Leaving your post. "E" vs. Space Bar.
« on: June 15, 2013, 05:47:29 pm »
I went to go adjust my keybindings at the helm the other day, and I noticed something a little strange: the keybindings menu has two distinct controls for leaving your post (be it a gun or the helm). It clearly states that the "E" key is to "DismountHelm" or "DismountGun" and the Space Bar is to "LeaveHelm" or "LeaveGun."

I went into practice mode and fooled around for a little bit (pointing guns in different directions, moving the throttle, loading different rounds, etc.) and I saw no difference between the two.

Did I miss some major detail?
Is Muse just against copy/paste?
Should I even care?

I look forward to your answers to these questions and more.

Yeah (#28). I don't think there's any difference, and there's probably no "good" reason why they have different names for doing the same thing.

Thanks.

Don't know why, but this just bugs me too.
Seeing how there are no spaces in any of the names in that menu, I'd say it probably has something to do with assigning multiple variables to the same value.

Only Muse knows for sure.

Well, Muse seems to enjoy inconsistent naming.
The whole heavy/light medium/small thing. That might just be us making it up, but if a Hawacha is a medium weapon I really want to see a ship with a Large mount.

First reply (technically topic opening), third paragraph.

Muse originally planned on making large guns. The one that they did design...

Was the size of a Junker.

No pictures in-game, but here's the artwork, which gives you a pretty good idea of what it would have been like.

Oh...

Oh my...

Interestingly enough, the Mercury Field gun is called the Mini Howitzer in the destruction feed in the top left, if I'm not mistaken.

COINCIDENCE?

"Small howitzer", that is.

The merc was called the howitzer until a few months back, and as a result you'll still see some old-timers calling it that (I still prefer the old name, to be honest). I suppose this was intended as a large merc.

I knew "mini" sounded wrong....

Did the Artemis use to be called the missile sling?

I remember when they mentioned customizing the hull as a possibility, never came through now that I think about it. If such a thing would occur I'd have one of those things mounted between the hull and a small platform the side.
