Then hype up SCS events you take part in as a bigger than it is event, show people the streams, send them YouTube links to older matches, if you're streaming, ask your ingame friends to spread the word of your live streams too, like the GoIo Facebook page, social media is over powered.
Muse: Hone in on things the community do, cosplay is pretty popular in this community, cosplay and the social media surrounding it in itself is a huge volume of advertisement.. So do a cosplay competition, give players a month to make a costume (but be sure to add teasers that you'll be doing a cosplay contest as it can be quite costly.) and for the prize, get the winner to send you hundreds of pictures of the costume and make it as an in-game cosmetic (and give it to the winner for free!) - that's an example.
Dream: Build a life sized Squid or Pyramidion deck with guns, set it up by a green screen and do a live action Guns of Icarus short movie with parkour (using the famous routes used by players)...
Actually.... That would work with fan fiction too......
