I thought of some kind of ability like "issue orders" which apply buff to specific part of ship. Like if some char or pilot will
use ability issue order "fire a salvo!" and with that will buff guns for five seconds. Or something like "faster, you groundwalkers!" (lol, that not sounds harsh
) and crew will begin to move faster or will do it's work better in some way. So... maybe pilot should take one or two available order from which he can choose one at time and after using both will get a cooldown. Or maybe it should be some character officer.
