Idea for better Ship visuals
« on: August 05, 2013, 01:45:36 am »
i had an idea when playing today, the ship hull is held to the balloon entirely with ropes on most ships, it would be cool to make them move separately!

it might be hard to implement, but it would add another level of difficulty to pilots and gunners, the bottoms moving around from a turn, or a bump.

I'm not quite sure what this would add to he game. How did you think the difficulty would be raised by that? I don't really get it.

It would add "rocking" as the balloon with it's little inertia and large drag tried to compete with the hull with it's large inertia and little drag. At least on a junker.

This would make my life as pilot terrible. It's difficult enough to coax the current ship models into the right positions. I wouldn't mind seeing rope animations or something, but rocking would make it really hard to hit (for gunners) and move (for pilots) essentially rewarding people who stand still instead of flying. While this is realistic, I don't think I would make for good gameplay.
