Feedback and Suggestions / Pocket sound mirror (tool)

From a discussion in another thread I thought of that idea of having a tool that let's you hear farther.

A sound Mirror concentrates sound from where it's pointing at. With the amount of clouds in this game it could be quite usefull to have a sense of direction where the enemy is. The tool only works if you focus it and the engines of the enemy are on. You still won't be able to mark him with that but something similiar with the crosshair of the rangefinder could work. The direction of the sound can be seen as long as somebody is using the tool.

Concept of the tool:



also I know we have drums, but in contrast this tool will allow you to pin down the direction of the enemy.

The Lounge / Pulsar: Lost colony v.Icarus in Space

PULSAR is a cooperative starship simulator that takes you and your crew to the farthest corners of the universe on a mission to find the mysterious Lost Colony. It features a procedural galaxy generator so every journey will be unique and contain new challenges for you and your crew.

The game has been designed from the ground up to provide an amazing cooperative multiplayer experience (up to five players), although it is entirely possible to play offline with bots as your crew.


I've been following the development of this game for a bit now and I must say it becomes more interesting with every update these devs put out there. It's a game I think many GoIO players might enjoy since it delivers part of the team-play we love about Icarus. It's supposed to be a sci-fy coop based game in space. It get's often referred to as a Fps FTL (although I've never played that game). It's in its very early stages of development but I'm sure these Indy devs deserve a little attention as I feel the potential of this game is great. Also it shows some stuff that I'd love to see in AM of Icarus.

Feedback and Suggestions / At the edge of the map

ITT: Particularly in maps like paritan rumble and dual at dawn where you can get stuck on a structure because the map limit is pushing you against it. Saw it happen more then once and it's very annoying. Eric said in the dev fireside chat it's possible for him to fix the size of the map real quick. Just make the map slightly larger so you can go around them without getting pushed to this situation.

Ok hear me out first. This is only an idea i played with and it could've even be considered already. If that's the case I'm sorry. It's something I thought would be a new challenge for the playstyle as it would add quite a lot to the difficulty of the game. Please read first before commenting:

alright this is just a idea to add more versatility to a ship. Eve Online players might be familiar with this as it would work quite in the same manner. Rigs would be permanent ship modification (as in a new slot) that provide bonuses to various ship functions. There could be one or two different rigs installed in a ship. not the same ones twice though. Some examples what they would do:

Hull Rig
+Reduces hits on the hull to repair it. by factor x
-Reduced armor health points by factor x

Armor Rig
+Adds more armor by factor x
-Makes ship heavier and therefor slower and less maneuverable

Alluminium Structure
+makes ship lighter and and therefor faster and more maneuverable
-ship is now briddle and more affected by fire (as the multing-point is very low)

reinforced silk balloon
+the ballon becomes more armored and sturdy. Perhaps even Invulnerable to Fire
-Ship is more likely to cacth fire (as gasoline drops from it) and altitude can't be changed as fast

Upgraded gun reloading engine
+all guns will have faster reloading speed by factor x
-Turning speed and angle is reduced by factor x

Now then, as you can see this would add something to the ship while it makes it more vulnerable at other stuff.  Needless to say this is an option for your ship. The new Challenge would be to counter the other ship with a fitting loadout. For example you counter a Armor rigged ship with a aluminum structure. Think yourself of more possibilities and rigs. And yes new Metaships would probably emerge from that. But with the right balancing this could be prohibited.

I know this would change quite a bit on the game so I'm really not expecting this to happen any time soon nor is it thought through very well yet. This would require heavy balancing first. But for me this would make the ship even more unique and different from the others. Imagine if this would be an option for your ship, what would you add or how would it affect your game? Let your creativity flow.

I have some suggestions for communication easement in the game. I guess some of them are considered since they are somewhat obvious. Most of it is just for the captain. Just let me get through each point:


Kick/Lock/Ban function for slots in Lobby(for the captain)
You're in a lobby, you're the captain and following scenarios can happen in each game:

-Some really annoying guy (like he wants to make you mad/ has no mic/ understands no english/ doesn't play as a team, you name the reasons) shows up and you have no force at all to get rid of him. Kick him and your good. Maybe even a voting system could work. But in my eyes the captain should be in charge of that decision.

-A buddy of yours gets a disco and someone else takes the spot (in game or lobby). This arrogant slot stealer (A.S.S.) doesn't move after your buddy came back and you can't play with him anymore :(


These kinda problems can be solved by a Kick system (from the pilot) a ban system (voting by the lobby) or simply a locking ability to lock the spots on your ship till your friends show up (lobby and in game).


Visualisation of different chats (Party/captain/crew) (just like party chat is purple) +volume control
this one i'm sure is already in consideration. A simply way to give an indication who on which chat in game is talking. Simplest way would be to use colours for that. Such as purple for party chat (just like in the chat window) and any cool of choice for the other two.
in addition it would be cool to have a volume control so that for example crew chat volume will the lowered to captain chat.


Primary targeting (indicator like in Portal 2)
In eve online we had this window visible by everybody in the fleet. it helped you to target a primary ship so everybody will shoot at the same guy. something like that would be very useful in many situation just to eliminate any misunderstandings. In game I could imagine the indicator the look similar to the portal 2 co-op pointing sign (just a simply circle for visualisation). It shows up briefly for everybody on your team to focus fire on one guy.


Scrolling ability in chat
yeah i think somebody mentioned that before already. scrolling in game just like the in these valve games would be very great. There are not many situations where you can't live with that but still. It's something that in my opinion should be considered.


who got the last shot??? (kills in chat)

Please tell me, Many times when you play competitive with your teammates we want to know who got the last kill. Implement kills in chat or something, I just want to know WHO GOT THE LAST ONE. THX

I know some of these have their downsides. Just like everything does. Though im confident that these chances would benefit my gameplay.
