I am against any suggestion that revolves around muting - the current system does the job. This is a game that relies entierly on using your voice to talk, and the reason why match lobbies allows for cross-team chat is to allow for pleasent banter, as a sign of good humor and sportsmanship.
In short, if you have a problem with people talking, then maybe this game is not for you.

What I get out of this is that you want to make gunners more relevant. I agree, they need to be brought up to par.
BUT, adding a mechanic that would make what is already a tough job for engineers even more difficult is not, in my opinion, the right way to do it.

So lock novices out of 4v4. Personally I like 4v4 matches. They are infinitely more interesting then 2v2. But I can understand your point. However unless they are piloting, I don't see as much of an issue.

This is not a good idea. A first rule of que-based gameplay is to make it as accessible as possible - locking new players out of a game mode would add waiting time to the que for no acceptable reason.
I think we're all just gonna have to live with that public games can go as bad as they can go good, regardless of the game type. I can definetly understand if you don't have enough buddies to organize a 4v4 - lord know that I don't. And I agree that something should be done about it. But denying people of any experience level a part of content is not the right way.

I just want to chip in with that I have all respect for good pilots, and ever for those who aren't good yet. Being a pure-blood engineer, I never suffer a lack of appriciation - seems to come with the job.
But captains get so much flak when they mess up and so little love when they do good. It's unfair, and I absolutely support anything that will give them the love that they deserve.

I've seen similar suggested before, so it is not an unwanted feature, personally I've gotten uses to how the current interface works, but wouldn't mind if such a hud existed, however as a side note, there are hud features being worked on in the Dev app, so when I get around to it may incorporate this suggestion to my feedback

My suggestion is to create a special interface for the captain that activates only when said captain is at the wheel. This interface shows every ship component in a straight row that is completly fixed while at the wheel. Visual cues such as engines protruding to right and left can be used to distinguish between parts. The point is to make it easier for the captain to see the status of the components and formulate a strategy.

The reason why I don't want it to extend to any class but the pilot (I say captain automatically, sorry) is because we need to make it very clear that the pilot, or captain, is the one who gives the commands. So, what do you think?

I might be coming back. As soon as I get bored of Heroes of the Storm. Now, here is a game about cooperation without being too stressful. I mean, at least so far.

Isometric perspective is a pain though. I never did understand how people can manage constantly re-adjusting the camera while also doing everything else. It just makes my head hurt.

I have an easy reply =) You're simply burned out. It happens to me too, but I always come back at some point, and enjoy a period of time where I can roam the skies, make jokes with funny people, and celerate victories after blowing my mind out with rockets and guns alike.
What makes me adore GoI as much as I do is that I can come back to it whenver I want and ALWAYS have a very good time =)
Not a lot of games offers me that anymore.

I don't name it, simply because I don't pilot a ship. I have no faith at all in my ability to lead competent people into battle. I don't even know how to make a ship go up and down, and I'm close to 300 games. I just prefer to be an engineer - that hard working rat who scurries around the ship and helps everyone wherever he can =) It's hard to not love engineers for the effort they put in, and I both receive and try to share that love in abundance. It's all I need =)
