i like the squid how it allready is, running past someone then dropping tar and having a bifecta from the back / side guns while still having the ability to bifecta with the front / side normally

changeing the arc would remove that ability and would make it a lot less flexible in my opinion

galleons rely on teamwork more than most other ships, something like a squid can pretty easly lock down a galleon long enouth for their team mate to come finish you off.

also when its manovering around a map its quite vunrable since it takes a long time to spin around in to firing arc

i think sniping should be more about chipping away at the enemy before they close in, so you have a slight upper hand when the battle starts

God Lamp to you sir! :P god knows if it'd ever make it into the game on a serious note (i am actually not teasing you . . believe it or not), but if it ever did from a gameplay point of view i'd figure it'd have to be some kind of alternative to the flamethrower , any beam weapon would be really. i always imagined you'd have to adjust the focal length of the of the beam according to the distance of the enemy ships to get the most out of it, and no reload, it'd just over heat with to much use. this is just me thinking out loud more then anything, its a  horribly complicated sounding weapon to implement though if it were to be.


what about a still short range flamer, that does a bit more damage and arcs downwards like its spraying liquid fire that pours on to ships below you

the only way i see the light flack becoming usefull again is to increase its accuracy and maybe a very slight range increase so its not dependant on heavy clip to land shots, ofcorse the balance being that the mortar at close range would still be abel to put out more damage

that would help but i was thinking more of the mine its self being different, like if the heatsink mine did do something like a chem spray have it resemble a big chemspray container instead of the normal mine

and the incindiary one could look like some kind of floating petrol bomb
