I like it. Free hat, say a "Graduate of the Sands" graduation hat, complete with steampunk tassels.

Anyways, I haven't played the tutorial recently, but when I did, it was at the state of:

Gunner: This is a gun. Press E to get on a gun. Now shoot the gun! GOOD JOB!"
Engie: This is a component. Click to repair this component. GOOD JOB!"
Pilot: This is the helm. Press E to get on the helm! Now, move to this box! GREAT JOB!"

Is that still where we are?

No, it's a lot better, but still not cover a lots of stuff. But I agree on making it mandatory for new players. This is not a simple one man army FPS to just jump in and play. And the unqualified players will become quitters.

There is already a report a option. Just click the name of the player and select report. If you have recently played with those players, you can find them in the social/recent section.

Right now if you mount a gun that has a special ammo type loaded you don't have, it automatically reloads the gun, which I don't really like. Because there is no indication of a gun has special ammo loaded, I might cause some kind of timing problems with my forced reload although that wasn't my intention. So my suggestion is that give the player a chance to decide what to do: a) leave the gun (WITHOUT reload), b) reload the gun manually. And mounting a gun like that could look like this: (check attachment)

Yeah, good point, I guess it has been suggested several times, including me. If I remember well, the official response was that players on other ships have been (temporarily?) disabled to save resources.

I agree with RomanKar about there are not enough players for a proper matchmaking system. Think about it: How many lobbys are there in average? Maybe 8-10? How many of those are in your region? Maybe 3-4? How many of those can you join with your friends to play on the same ship? So as you see, not many choices will remain.

I also think that the skill level is very hard to determine. It might be based on all the rank level, the invested time, the win/loose ratio of that played class, but having done that you'll still only have the relative skill level of a single member of a crew. All of this may mean nothing if the ship loadout is choosen poorly and/or the crew's class composition is bad, and/or there are communication problems (due to language barriers or whatever reasons), personal issues. So taking an average skill level of a whole crew would be as accurate as a random number.

I agree with all points presented here.  Stop spamming casters and make an option to disable damage feed and chat independently.

What do you mean by spamming casters? Sending private messages? If yes, how about a feature of setting status for players? Something similar like there is in instant messaging programs. If it's "available" the chat works as it's now, if it is set to "busy" the private messages are refused or stored and displayed later until the status has been reset to "available" again.

There is a beta tab at the properties of GoIO in Steam, where you can enter a code to unlock private betas. I think that's where we'll activate it.

How about adding a server browser to the game's main screen that would list the live games with missing pilots/captains?
Something like that:


Bad pilots are still way better than nothing, because they have a chance becoming better. :)

I like the Left 4 Dead approach where the AI controls a mid game join while the player spectates the AI until the player presses a button to take over. This will also prevent the mid game joiner from becoming active at a crucial moment (spanner away from death).

Sounds good.
