Hey ducks.  I'm trying my best to stay off steam and be productive….BUT has anyone played the ADVENTURE TIME MOBA???
its called battle party and its free to play. 3v3.  my name in it is DOCTOR FRANK WINDMILL.
It's competitive enough for MOBA players and simple enough for nonMOBA players.

Gameplay / Re: 1.3.3 GUNS AND GUNNER SKILL BALANCE
« on: November 05, 2013, 02:00:49 pm »
Hello everyone!  I have not read ANY of the previous posts.

I used to be very serious about this game and collected stats and made charts on every gun. then I stopped playing for I don't even know how many patches.
I think this gives me a very good point of view on the current  balance of the game.
Yesterday I did a lot of testing on the light killing guns (piercing/explosive).  Here are my notes:

Before (when gat/mortar was king)
PIERCING:

GATLING: The best at armor stripping.  If you were not sniping you NEED one to be anything but a disabler.
MERCURY: great for disabling ships and the only option for piercing damage at long range.  Not a close range option.
HADES: N/A

EXPLOSIVE:

MORTAR: THE choice for close range hull breaking with the ability to hit at mid range.  NEEDED if you were a killing brawler in competitive play.
L FLAK: no longer the killing king and sometimes used with mid ranged killing builds with minor competitive play success.
ARTIMUS: (post buff then nerf) disabler with neglectable explosive damage.
BANSHEE:  easiest gun to shoot. THE WORST GUN IN THE GAME I very often said.

Now
PIERCING:

GATLING: still performs the same job it used to but now the HADES fills in the gap between where the GATLING cant hit and where the MERCURY can only hit.
MERCURY: great for disabling ships and the only option for piercing damage at long range.  Not a close range option.
HADES: The arming time means that the GATLING will still rule the close range kill WHICH IT SHOULD but HADES is now your expert gunner gun of the light guns like the LUMBERJACK is for the medium guns.

Piercing options are balanced.

EXPLOSIVE:

MORTAR: Best damage. Close range
L FLAK: viable hull killer. has arming time. mid range
ARTIMUS: Dissabler. great long range, possible short range.  Can get the kill with one clip
BANSHEE:  CAN ACTUALLY GET A KILL IN ONE CLIP NOW!!!! :O.

Explosive options are now balanced.

For a pyramidion before my build options for front guns I would consider were these:
Short range brawl: GETLING/MORTAR  (hands down)
Min range: GATLING/MORTAR, GATLING/LFLAK
Long range: MERC/ARTIMUS, MERC/MERC, ARTIMUS/ARTIMUS (none of these are optimal, but the long range kill shoulb be harder than the short one)

NOW:
Short range brawl: GETLING/MORTAR, GATLING/BANSHEE,
Min range: GATLING/MORTAR, GATLING/LFLAK, GATLING/BANSHEE, GATLING/ARTIMUS HADES/MORTAR, HADES/LFLAK, HADES/BANSHEE, HADES/ARTIMUS (all pretty even)
Long range: MERC/ARTIMUS, MERC/MERC, ARTIMUS/ARTIMUS (all those combinations xHADES)

SO MANY MORE OPTIONS NOW!

Is the sniping vs brawl balance bad now? I don't know. But now its sniping vs mid range vs brawl like never before.

logged on today to get my hat.   Flying is like riding a bicycle, you get used to crashing into everything because you have built a good crew, then you fly with randoms and they think you are suicidal.... just like a bicycle.

Well my good friends, It's time for me to move on.  I have saved up my money to get all the equipment I need to fallow my dreams with music and now I must concentrate on that.
I am deleting all video games from my computer and iPhone.
My solo Nintendo-grind band is called Cybearg and you can check it out here:
https://www.facebook.com/Cybeargband
Funny right? quitting video games to write music that sounds like video games.
Maybe I will see you in you're home town while I'm on tour and we can remember the good times.

(picture of me when I was an 18 year old scene kid who still believed dreaming big was all it took to succeed, apparently hard work should be in there too.)

I'm going to go quack in fate's face, goodbye.

to be honest with you, i still occasionally push the idea of squid racing in the office when ever i can especially around when i saw the original squid racing topic.  then again i just like the idea in general. mind you in my head i picture it a little more then just squid racing, and actually racing of different types of ships with courses designed around there maneuverability using some kind of check point system (maybe similar to how capture points work in a sense). mind you i'm not making any promises here that it would eventually become a thing, just that i'd just love to see this become a real thing if we ever had the time and resources to do it.

It does seem like all the hard parts are already done. All you have to do is fiddle with the check point system, duplicate some maps and change some spawns, and you have increased the game content by %33 at least.

Run a 10 day kickstarter for over time money, BBQ, and booze. Then bang it out over a weekend.

Squid racing is not a established event simply because no one signs up.  I've tried many times and ways to get it going (10 forum pages worth) plus the time making tracks and videos of the tracks.  :-[

In the rules of the new competitive scene written by Keyvias https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArCXRuoOqVIMdHU4akg0UkV5REpzb3JtR3lRbFNzcWc&usp=sharing
it says a skirmish could be a squid race as long as both teams agree to the match.

I thank you Keyvias!

Please think of me as the official Squid Race official.
By the rules teams do not need my involvement at all to squid race for points, but I am offering to oversee, facilitate, cast, and referee any and all squid race skirmishes.

Here are the squid racing rules: (teams can choose to have altered rules if both teams agree)
-Racers must go through every checkpoint on the map in order before completing the lap.
-If you die you are out of the race.  For longer races (multiple labs) special rules for dying will be written.
-no TAR, GATING, MERCURY, MINES, or CARRONADES.  Trust me, the race is hard enough without them.  Some tracks will allow all weapons.

Friday Races:
Every friday at 3pm EST (GMT-3) there will be an up to 6 ship race with only on ship per team allowed (weather this will grant you a point for winning is up to Keyvias. please replace this txt with the answer)
Ship spots are first come first serve but a full ship can kick a ship with AI crew out of the race if there are not enough spots.

TRACKS SO FAR!

If you want to sign up for the Friday races, post your ship and crew here. you can only sign up for the fallowing friday. First come first served.

I have started the duck replacements (the Sitting Ducks) team team "the Sitting Ducks".

The Sitting ducks team is NOT A COGS team.
The Sitting Ducks team is a pub/scrim/practice team that may (rarely) participate in non league events.

All Sitting ducks are potential substitutes for our duck league teams and will be the first choices for new league players.

Looking for new ducks, ducks who want to get on a cogs team, ducks who can't play during cogs time.

Come practice all ships and ship positions in a semi-competitive super casual team.

the Sitting Ducks!

talk to me on steam "JaceBoojah"

Duck reserve team/duck roster.

I've retired from competitive captaining and I am taking over the organization of the duck reserves.

If you are a duck and are not currently on a cogs team you should be involved in the reserves!
The reserves will be the best place for new ducks, ducks looking to get on a competitive team, ducks that want to compete but aren't available during cogs time.

The most basic part of the reserve team is a database on everyones availability, skills, and contact info.

The duck reserves will potentially field their own team in non league games.

PM me with your info:
In game name
location/time zone
availability
Class choice from best to worst
mic yes/no
Teamspeak yes/no
favorite ship to captain
steam name
(optional) phone number
Current team

i will be asking these questions of all the ducks I already know
