Adding onto this I'd like to suggest a flexibler option for the spectators to be able to join the matches... perhaps while they are spectating a button that says 'Join match!' and below it (__ spots available). When the press the button they see the spots that are available and can click on any one of these they chose.

Also I agree with Mr. LeMoon, however I think that sometimes the previous captain that held this ship is a lower level and still doesn't know how to manage the piloting skills. Most of the times this occurs because it is more common among the lower level captains to leave the game. It is therefore more advantageous to take your own piloting skills according to your preference, unless the previous captain was a higher level that did know how to correctly choose his piloting skills.

Gameplay / Re: Pilot Skills - Chute Vent/Hydrogen
« on: January 29, 2014, 01:15:08 pm »
Now that we're on the topic of squids, I'd like to add some of my observations.

I think that a Squid pilot ALWAYS needs a vertical tool, without one the ship would be inflexible in combat. These tools I use generally for dodgeing the guns of the opponent. Recently (in the name of achievements) I have been taking Droge Chute rather than Hydrogen, which causese me to fall in case I need to recover from the enemy's attack. However I noticed that when I fall, I spend far more time below combat than intended. My crew fixes everything before I can even get close to the height of the combat, and usually I spend up to 30 seconds rising up with the Squid, telling them 'patience...', while watching my ally die in a 2v1 above me.

So yes, on a Squid I can say that bringing Hydrogen is the most beneficial choice. Any falling tool such as Droge Chute or Chute Vent are not beneficial in the least.

Q&A / Re: The Tip Jar, a collection of community tips
« on: January 28, 2014, 08:43:20 pm »
I don't know if these have already been said, but here are my recommendations (how I pilot normally):

Always know the capacities of your ships before charging into battle. Sometimes it is better to be sneaky than to face the enemy head on, depending on your ship.

My recommended standard captain load-outs are: Phoenix claw to boost turn, Moonshine/Kerosine to boost speed, and Hydrogen/Drogue chute to alternate altitude.

Even on the Spire (the fastest turning ship) Phoenix claw is extremely helpful.

I recommend that you put mine launchers on the back of your ships which allow guns there, the Galleon and Squid. This makes running away easier as it is distracting for the enemy.

If you are a squid and you are battling a Pyramidion, Mobula or Galleon, ALWAYS get behind them. Do not use this tactic when battling a Spire, however, because they turn quickly and have their gun on you while you are still flying around them.

If your ally dies and you are stuck in a 2v1, concentrate mostly on repairs and try to standby while your ally comes back. Your ally then can provide a distraction while you fix your ship.

And yes, patience and planning are essential - never underestimate them!

The Lounge / Re: What did you name your ship and why?
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:11:09 pm »
My pyramidion's name is Bridget Blindside because before I started captaining, I read a little about every ship so I knew the basics on how each of them worked. On one of the threads for pyramidions, the author said that the ship had a 'blindside', that is a ship with no guns on one side. Bridget is a name that has two words combined: 'bridge' (for the structure on top) and 'et' (and in latin). So basically it describes the physical appearance of the ship - a bridge and a blindside.

No Gryphos, it's about slaughtering harmless birds for the mere purpose of consumption, a practice which humans consider to represent a season of thankfulness.
