The Pit / Avatar makeover for the user above you

So everyone seems to be changing their avatars recently, so I though maybe the rest of us should too.  You can give some criteria to the user below you something you would like to have as part of your avatar makeover.  The challenge for the user below is then to find a funny/interesting avatar that they would like and meets the user aboves criteria.  e.g. for me, I don't mind as long as it has blue in it.

So I'll start, the user above me didn't list any criteria so they can have a facebook style default avatar:

The Pit / Gunner Balance improvements currently in the dev app!

Tested out the latest changes in the Dev App and gunners have been given a balance buff.  This means gunners are way more agile when moving around the ship and can move between different guns much quicker than engineers can.  There are many new parkour possibilities with gunners being able to climb almost vertically up ship ropes.

Pilots and engineers will be given a balance debuff which means they will have a 10% chance of tripping and falling every time they make a step.

General Discussion / If you were a Game Modder.

So consider a fictional world (a world like this one but a bit more steampunky) where you are an elite programmer with awesome game modding skills and you can provide your own modded GoIO servers for people to play on.

What Guns of Icarus Online Mods would you make?

For me, I would start with a ship + gun randomiser server as an entry point into modding.  For fun I might also try disabling vertical movement on the Water Hazard map for a classic ocean ship battle.

What are your ideas?

I have just heard inside knowledge that Muse are working on some epic new stuff to put into the game.  I realise that this might be controversial as there are people that would prefer more things instead.

Please vote if you want things or stuff added to the game, then we can get Muse to prioritise their development efforts to our whimsical demands!

I think a lot of people join lobbies and matches without thinking about what their current class is.  It may stop a lot of double pilots by displaying a warning message when a player clicks on a crew slot while they have the pilot class selected.  The warning message could also have buttons to join a match and change classes as well.  This would be especially useful for joining running matches, because I suspect people join open slots in running matches in a bit of a rush.

When you hit the game manual button in the lobby (picture of a book) it shows you a list of manuals which include: 'Game Manual', 'Wilsons Notes' (1 and 2), 'Lusse's Travels' and 'Evadne's Reports'.  When you hit escape and then the game manual button whilst in a game it only shows you the 'game manual' portion, not the list of all manuals and not things like 'Wilsons Notes' which could be very helpful.  I find that people tend to have a lot of debates over different guns effectiveness which would be solved easier by being able to view Wilson's Notes while in a match.

This is a wearable tool that makes it actually possible to see the enemy on maps with bright clouds like Canyon Ambush and Battle of the Dunes.  Lets you see spots clearly while reducing the glare from clouds by 80%.

General Discussion / The only mid-join as engineer philosophy

FYI: this is not gunner vs. engineer balance talk.  The philosophy here is that mid game crew slots are filled with engineers only.

Mid joining double (and triple) gunners and mid joining as a second pilot causes a lot of conflict between players.  Many people I ask to change to engineer through Abandon Match and rejoin through match list actually do but I would prefer if they didn't have to go through the effort.  I have seen captains take double gunner builds but it is rare.

What I am suggesting is that after a match has started the damage dealing aspect (i.e. gunner) has been worked out as AI engineers are repair focused under F1 and everyone that joins while the match is already under way should fill in as engineers.

Lobbies are where you strategise: pick your class, pick your loadout.  Currently part of the lobby strategy includes expecting mid joining pilots and second gunners which cause unneeded conflict between crew members in game.  I want people to be able to assemble whatever build they want in the lobby, allowing for welcome engineer midjoiners.  Currently players are apprehensive of allowing mid joiners because of the propensity of double gunner and double pilots which disable a ships functionality more than anything else.

A mid game joining second gunner or second pilot has not caused anything other than stress for the existing engineer and aggression and blame from the captain.  GoIO would be a happier, more friendlier place if we Muse didn't allow mid joining double gunners and pilots in order to reduce unnecessary conflict between players.

Why do the teammate ships turn yellow sometimes?  This happens in both the Map and on the compass.  Here is a screenshot of a yellow teammate icon on the compass:

General Discussion / What Match List Filters Would You Add?

I am sure there are a lot of people out there like me who spend a lot of time surfing the Match List  If Muse could add any filter so you could search for the matches you wanted, what would you ask them to add?

Sometimes what I'm looking for is intangible, but other times I could be looking for matches that have things like:

players in my friends list

ships that need a gunner

ships with lumberjacks

blenderfish for my lochnagar achievement

squid for my rebuilding engines achievement

empty Captain Slots that aren't vs. Spud Nick :P

I think the repair cooldown and rebuild power stats are very informative for seasoned players but it's not really obvious what they mean to new players.  Some sort of visual indication for how effective a repair tool is for repair/rebuild compared to other tools.  Here is a crude mockup of what I mean:
