Feedback and Suggestions / Re: 4 VS 4 Balloons Needs To Be Gone

I mean when you hit the play button on default it will look for 3v3 or 2v2 games only. Then if you want to do 4v4 you would have to go into the options to look for those games.
You can set your match preferences to exclude 4v4 you know.

I know you can search for 2v2, 3v4, or 4v4. Is there a way to simply exclude? I prefer 2v2s, don't mind 3v3s, but 4v4s are only fine in small doses and play drastically different than the others.

You're about to have a lot of people groan but let me try and give you a quick honest and sincere answer.

Never. Muse rightfully acknowledges that boarding would fundamentally change the game in a direction that they feel is counter to the strategic and team work focused game they currently have.

Muse explains themselves here quite well.

How is the pilot supposed to already know that you know best or that you know where you are wanted on the ship. Imagine you jump on my ship and see I am a meta galleon with an Lumberjack, a Heavy Flak, and a Hades on the left. I probably need a gunner and two engineers each with very different ammos, do you know who is already doing what cause if you go engineer with lesmok, and the other goes engineer with lesmok, one of y'all is wasting your ammo on my flak. I've no idea your communication level, whether I'll need 4 seconds or 100 seconds to get you to switch ammos or tools. Why wouldn't I send a recommended load out? I chat at the same time, but sending the recommendation will always be the first thing I do.

Recommended load outs are a great way to quickly suggest a load out. Instantly assuming arrogance is its own arrogance.

Balloons also magically deflate downwards instead of upwards cause its convenient.

Well thats a little harsh there Roberts. You have to remember that pilots already have those load outs saved and ready to go so why wouldn't they send them? They're not locked. Its great you want to discuss load outs with your captains and I imagine the majority are willing to do so, however its hardly rude for them to start the discussion by sending you there suggestion of a load out.

Yeah, the ammount of time could be diminished to maybe 60 seconds. But it doesnt force people to use both. Maybe im missing something here but why should you bring a flamer if you think you can endoure it and just kill the enemy ship normaly?

Ever messed up a chem spray against a flare gun? Imagine not messing up a chem spray against them and still having 50% chance of a 10 stack? (2 shots with 25% chance of igniting.

Heat sink flares suddenly become OP unless you have both.

While I like ideas that encourage usage of both flamers and chems on a ship, I dislike how this forces both. Also 80 seconds is a ridiculously long time. While amybe needed to make the tool balanced, its awkward having something combat related last that long.

tl:dr. look nerd.

Dude, you're posting about game balance on an online forum for an indie game set in a steam punk setting.

I think its safe to say that makes you as much a nerd as the rest of us.

Now look as I was telling someone earlier today, Muse is possibly the most in touch with their community as any game devs have ever been. If you feel a weapon is poorly designed you can have two things, a frank discussion about it, and assurances that well founded concerns will be considered. However if you're real goal is to troll, surely there are better places for that.

When the minotaur was first released it was amazingly overpowered. They did some big scale backs to where it is now. Initially decried at being too big a nerf I am seeing the gun used more and more often to great affect.

You are definitely right that it can completely dominate a galleon if given the chance. The main balance of the mino is its difficult to use (invisible slow shot). Galleon being slow and fat though negates this. I am unsure if I'd call it completely unbalanced or even hard counter, but it definitely does work as a counter to the Galleon. There is merit to this conversation, but love of God, watch the high horse.

BTW, it certainly aint useless against Junkers and Mobulas.

Considering how great heavy weapons especially the h flak is now, early heavy weapons sound stupid.

As I always seek to point out and skies already did, just because nothing is getting set on fire doesn't mean a ship is not being adversely affected.

When chemming, even the most efficient chemming, you are reducing your repair per second drastically. Imagine if you had a gun that made everyone's mallet a shifting spanner. That is what the threat of flamer does up close.

Mallet with no chems is 250r/9s = 27.78rps
Pipe wrench is 120r/5s = 24 rps
2 mallets and 1 chem (a safe chem cycle) 500r/23s = 21.74rps
Spanner is 40r/2s = 20

I mean it is still the highest damage. I prefer the higher DPS of others but I can understand why some may like burst.

I was ignoring this thread in hopes people would realize how whiny and ridiculous it is. Then it became 7 pages long and I see now that failed.

Just because Muse doesn't agree with your opinions doesn't mean they don't care about your feedback. Muse has been pretty damn consistent with being attentive to feedback. This is easily the most ridiculous thread I've seen started. I know I am guilty of it as well, but I see so many people around here mistaking their opinions for objective truths. The notion that 1.1 was some golden era has as much evidence to support it as the notion that 1.1 was the dark ages.

Muse definitely listens to constructive feedback. However many people have a warped view concerning where their opinions end and constructive feedback begins.

Mind if I try one? An alternate take on engineer stamina

SCANDAL In Engineering Corps;
How Rampant Is Stimulant Use?

A new study has revealed shocking drug use among airship engineers. Doctor Leann Fullerton, the head of the research team, reported that its not a question of how man engineers use stimulants, but how often each one does.

"With new innovations in ship hardware," continued Fullerton, "the pressure has never been more focused on engineers. The use of stimulants is the only way for them to feel able to keep up."

While the long term affects of these stimulants is yet unknown the immediate is well documented. Ctamynaxproxin, or Stamina as its known is the most commonly used among engineers studied.

"Its amazing." Explained one anonymous swabbie. "A little injection before combat begins and its like I've got motors in my feet. I can run faster, and even jump higher. I kid you not, its like I'm flying."

There are of course drawbacks as he explained that the speed comes in bursts and after a few seconds he has to rest before he can zip along. Also there have been documented cases of these doped up engineers jumping too far and falling off airships.

While many are outraged, there are some pilots who encourage the use of Ctamynaxproxin among there engineers.

"We're in a war and sacrifices to health must be made." Angrily explained one grizzled pilot. "And if my engineers want to do their jobs more effectively why would I stop them? No one questions giving up a limb for the war, why the fuss about giving up a few brain cells?"

When asked whether he was worried about engineers falling off airships, he simply laughed, calling that "old news."
