Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Heavy Flame Thrower
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:05:34 am »
I support this, mainly because the game needs more big guns in general.

I agree with your sentiment.

On a related note :

- a Huge flamethrower shouldn't do more damages, the damages are already balanced for the regular flamethrower. However it should have much more amo, a longer range and a wider area, IMHO.

- I would love to see a big gun harpoon repeater ! Like you could launch multipe harpoon before reloading !

- I'd like a big gun explosive barrel launcher, it would works like a big mortar

- I'd love obviously to see a Tesla big gun of some sort

well we're constantly optimizing the game the best we can, and learning tricks to minimize how much of a hit performance takes. To be honest, we took the barrels out as a quick fix when we realized it was an issue, and you made me realize that with all the stuff we know now we could probably stick them back in, or other things if we decide.

pretty much at the end of the day the more ways we figure out how to optimize stuff with out losing anything noticeable, the more features we can add to ships/guns/environment which is ultimately our goal.

Yeah I see. It's great to know you guys are constantly optimizing the game any way you can and as long as it doesn't effect the game performance it's obvious we love to see new features for the ships.

The barrels are a great idea because it makes sense to have them there but I wouldn't mind a simple door where we can go inside even if it's empty or with a few barrels :P

Keep up the great work regardless!

To add more to to it, Lenz originally had barrels and barrels stored away up there... Until we realized it was actually effecting performance..  With that said we did design some of these ships with some person sized compartments just incase... And I'll leave it at that

aaah, thanks!

Dammit I want moar now haha, well it's understandable you want to keep features like that at a minimum so it doesn't effect performance.

I like the idea but that would really be hard to balance. We had so much issues to balance the first flamethrower, not sure how to implement this one.

If we do add it then IT HAVE to be a huge dragon head with dragon roaring like rwherndon suggest haha

The Galleon balloon component used to be up that ladder (but not in that room). It was way too difficult and time-consuming to reach in battle, so it was moved down to the helm deck.

I see. Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer us.

If you'll look, most of the ships actually have some little sealed-off compartments and inaccessible areas. The cargo/supplies/crew quarters/head have got to be somewhere, right?

Right! And this is exactly why I'd love to access those parts. :D

Well, I understand this might be a lot of work for such aesthetic request, I just feel a bit frustrated not being able to fully explore those wonderful ships.

Ingame Loadout changes. Currently this can be done by abandoning the match, changing the loadout, then rejoining. However, that seems a bit roundabout and unnecessary.

As explained to you earlier, it is game breaking and in my humble opinion it should not even be possible to leave the game then join back right away. It's just too easy to adapt to others ships and it isn't the goal of the game. You have a crew, a loadout and making choice BEFORE the game start and then you have to deal with your choice when fighting.

It should be enforced that we are unable to join a game we previously left before it ends.

An option to allow me to always see ship equipment health, regardless of if it is fully repaired. (WoW Raid Leader, more information at all times is always better!)

I would even push it a little bit further and wouldn't mind having a small window on the top right/left corner indicating all the components health instead of having to look all around my screen to check them.

Some indication of exactly how much damage a bullet of a certain weapon damages components of an enemy ship numerically.

Some indication of enemy health (Either just hull, or of everything). Keeping track of all the info feed at the top left can feel a bit overwhelming at times.

I am completely opposed to those ideas. We should not be able to have technical indication of an enemy condition other than the visual effects we already have.

It is part of the game. Providing things like damages done and health left on enemies is game breaking to me, sometimes giving too many accurate informations makes the game easier and it is not wanted in my book.

It's like in MMORPG when you provide too many tips about an enemy, at the end there is no longer a challenge. Here having some uncertainty is what makes the game so fun.

That being said it was a solid thread, I see some people already addressed a few of your points so I won't comment any further. Have a good day and enjoy the game :D

Yeah that's an interesting question.

I guess it was for gameplay purpose, it's good to have the balloon component easily available to the captain and crew so perhaps putting it up there would have been a weakness.

Hello guys,

First off, thank you Muse, once again, for the redesign on the carronade effects. I know you don't have time to answer all topics but it's very appearent you read them and takes well care of your community. I also know you are focusing on the adventure mode which is an awesome thing.

However, I always felt sad we had an awesome part of the Galleon which is not used. It is a fairly big ship and we have ladders, close to the rear gun, leading up to a floor.

I would absolutely love if there was something up there. For example, here is how I see it :

It would be awesome to have a 'door' right there, so we can get inside of this nice little room. And it could even become some sleeping quarters with hamacs inside, just like that :

Of course, this is only an example, it could be anything else or perhaps simply put a desk, chairs, or some boxes inside. I just always felt a bit frustrated not being able to access this part of the ship.

Any other thoughts from the community about it?

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: What you want to see in Adventure Mode?
« on: March 14, 2013, 06:22:17 pm »
You'll hear more about Adventure Mode very soon... like next week soon... as well as ways you can contribute to this huge project.

A lot of the things you've mentioned are indeed planned to be in Adventure in some way or another.  One thing I'll say is that we're unwilling to call it a full MMO because that gives off the wrong impression (goddamn it WoW).  Airship combat will still be the crux of interaction here but every time you jump onto a ship, you will be affecting the world in some way or another.  Persistent, yes.  Completely open-world, impossible for our team size.

That's all I'll say for now :)  Get pumped.

I hope there's a kickstarter version of the game so we can help with our wallet and push the mode :D

I'd like to have a big "mechanics" flying city where my own house is located. Some sort of housing where I can dock my ships.

I'd like to have more ships variety that can be only find in the adventure mode like : personal airplane, personal small balloon with one gun, trade ships, etc

I want the same balance as the multiplayer. Adapt the environment to the actual ships, not the opposite.

I'd like huge travels to do and towns I can visit here and there, a big fantastic world that I can visit in co-op.

Well that for a start would be nice enough to keeps me happy for a long time.

they should rename the carranade  '' the coughing dog ''

what about 'heavy breathing dog' :P

I agree with everything said here. Flinging kilo's of high-velocity shrapnel should have more visual and auditorial boom.

Heavy Breathing Dog for the twin carronade and Coughing Dog for the small one, sounds fitting lol
