Updated.

If there are any clans in this list that anybody knows to be defunct, please let me know. It'd be nice to trim it down a little.

Wundsalz, I didn't think that the third team ever actually competed, those were pretty hectic times though, so I could have missed/forgotten it. But, regardless, It would have been a VERY brief spike.

I believe that the Paddling, the Brood, and the Raft were all competing in the last Cogs, and all did very well. One of the older Ducks probably remembers the specifics better than I do, but I know from competing against them that none of them were teams to be taken lightly.

You are correct. In fact, those three teams occupied three of the top four Cogs for a few weeks, and all three were participating in a number of events for a period of several months. So a little bit more than a "very brief spike"

Using Skrim's definitions, I'd absolutely agree that the Ducks are a "weak" pillar at this point, at least compared to the way it was last year.

Probably not that much. If he lives in a city that has invested in good network infrastructure, he likely pays a decent price.

Pretty much sums it up.

~snip~

I'll go sit in a corner.

Recently got it upgraded. I like being able to download games on Steam in under 5 minutes.

Downside is that Rogers goes down a lot. For no reason. I'd trade a high download speed for something that doesn't randomly drop for 30 minutes to and hour at a time any day.

Engineer

Combat Achievement, War Cry
"Do you always yell out the names of fruits at moments of heightened tension?"

Seems to be referring to how Ducks shout "Raspberries!" to indicate enemy armour breaks.

World / Re: Piron 1919
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:39:17 pm »
Like a lot of things in this game (e.g. engines), Piron is a reference to a Muse dev, specifically Christopher Piron, one of the artists (in-game name is Lordfunpants). Not sure where 1919 comes from (the game is set somewhere after WWI, so I guess they just picked 1919 as the year), but there's a bit of backstory here:

I never noticed it was a cow until I looked closely at the reference screenshot I took so I could redraw it. I'm curious as to the background behind the "brand" design. =P

pretty much the muse art team does 20 minute art exercises ranging from quick paintings in photoshop to zbrushing. usually we pick a random theme, in a random way. . . one month or so we ended up simply having 3 people shouting out words at random and then we'd do what ever we came from it. . . more or less the 3 words where cow, lawyer, and i believe destruction or evil? and to be honest, the cow was probably my worst worst drawing cause i started off drawing a phoenix wright cow, looked over at lenz screen and realized he was doing the same thing. . so changed it up half way. the full picture was alot more. . . umm. . violent lets say >>. . .  either way while lenz was making those bottles he needed a logo, and branded it after me. . . . and for what ever mysterious reason? he picked the cow. why? god knows . . .

doing dozens of 20 minute art exercises with random themes is a really really good way to practice. i consider those exercises as the source of how much better i am at doing art then when i started working at muse, and would love to see what comes out of people doing guns of icarus themed 20 minute fan arts ;p  (maybe something more specific though then just "guns of icarus". . .)

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Eliminate AI Gunners

I remember making the same point in my Nerf the Gunner thread, but I like your proposed solution a lot more xD

Definitely a good idea. There's absolutely no need for AI gunners in their current state.

General Discussion / Re: No... I promise you, that is not how that works
« on: August 27, 2014, 03:45:55 pm »
I flew on a pyramid with double front Gatling, double side mortar.  Could've worked in theory but against a hardcore flame squid?  Not a chance.
Double gat is a reasonable threat to a squid especially if you can chew off an engine or two. The mortars are just a wasted opportunity unless the enemy's engineers are asleep.

I completely disagree. Double gat is an absurd choice to fight a ship with next to no armour and tonnes of permahull. It's not hard to time mortars to land on the hull, especially since the armour will be going down every 2 seconds.

Ship hugs!

You'd have to be a masochist to enjoy receiving that kind of hug :P
